So I think that we have all at one time or another seen video of some guy in a Jovian ship kicking ass (or getting ganked out of his mind). Is it for real? Can a regular EVE pilot eventually find a Jovian ship out there? Can only CCP peeps use them? Are their random spawns of Jovian ships in 0.0?

Those with the nice little "ISD" tags get to use the Polaris Inspector Frigate.
Thsoe with the "GM" or "ISD BH" tags have their own particular methods of transport depending on requirements. Examples include the 400k m3 "BH Mega Cargo Ship", and the 2.3m+ shield hp "atron much hp". When combined with certain sekret modules, they can be on par with the Jove ships.

If you want a Jovian ship get yourself the 3 year aniversary shuttle that was given to everyone. It's considered to be Jovian last I remember, though you won't be killing anyone with it unless you can get a carrier pilot to assign a fighter or two to you. Recruitment Thread EKT Website |

I heard that years ago, someone figured out a way to set his medical clone to a station in Jovian space, self destructed his pod, appeared over there, bought a Jovian battleship off the local market for 100 ISK (like on the test server), but then realized he could not fly it. That loophole has since been closed, I understand.
You can see a Jovian ship or two in a couple of missions during the Sisters of Eve epic arc. You just don't get to fly it. ______________________________________________________ Isn't it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you? |

The Jovian ship according to prime fiction are "overpowered" compared to the other races ships. Therefore allowing players to fly them would be disasterous to game balance. Unless they brought them down on par with other ships, which would ruin prime fiction (which can be added with chronicles explaining why they are "nerfed").
Anyways, I don't think we should be able to fly them!

Yeah, eventually the technology the four primary races use will certainly catch up.

This is under the assumption that jove technology wouldnt improve. TBH i think lore-wise jove will always be able to whoop arse and that's the reason their ships arent in the game (though the eidolon's stats arent that impressive, jove motherships have lasers that kill dozens apocs in 1 hit crap like that)
It's basically a race meant for the lore, not for playing

Considering most of the Jove ships were frigates and nothing is known upon the Jove MS ability to tank etc. but of a silly statement.

Unity Love said " Considering most of the Jove ships were frigates and nothing is known upon the Jove MS ability to tank etc. but of a silly statement." No where does it say it was mostly Frigate's. In fact the ship shot at was a Jove cruiser and it died in one volley from one ship. We don't know the MS ability to tank but we have a good indication of the Jove ability to tank based on storeys and in game Jove. Going by the scale of Jove Frigs, cruisers and BS's we can assume the Motherships is around 10-15% better than our motherships. In other words it won't stand up to a very large fleet. Amaar sent a small fleet and wiped out 1 third of the Jove fleet. Amaar have the numbers to beat the Jove in a full scale war I recon.
A third of the Jovians fleet was lost with all those massive advantages. If it was just an Amaar and Jove fleet meeting randomly then I would bet the Jove would have lost far more then 1 third. Plus the Jove in game are not that hard and we have advance massively in tech recently so we could be close to the Jove now. There is nothing to indicate the Jove are still massively ahead of us. Our T3 seems to be a match against the Jove.

It's a shame... personally i think ccp should randomly release a lil jove stuff here and there... maybe have people randomly get contacted by a secret jove agent, asking them to do a spy mission for them, and in exchange u get a jove frig bpc and the book to fly it.
True, the frig might be a omgwtfpwnbbq machine but it's still a frig so it can get ganked. (unless even a single jove frig can wtfpwn an entire fleet on it's own) ________________________________________________

Partly correct. You need to be in your pod first, then self-destruct. Only works if you have a basic medical clone, too.
