Not sure if this exists anywere else so figured its goin up
after the better part of 36hrs tryin to get my 2nd client running for me alt ive finally resolved my issue i used to run the 2 clients from teh same directory (activating the same exe file twice) and never had a problem with it so client one has been running for about 30 mins lets get number 2 up , 30 secs in the subject title kindly pops up from windows i drop into the help channel on the off chance someone has an answer and granted the help i received was good in that they new the same as me replace drivers failing that revert back to old one clear cache's this and that and we both thought just maybe its a memory leak i ran memtest86 for quite a while and got a pass from it, i noticed (for teh umpteenth time) on my ati catalyst icon (systray) it says system messages (event viewer) , id earlier ignored this as i had replaced the drivers twice one set from Ati and the other set from XFX, this little function tho simple now enabled me to roll all this fraustration off my back with a few clicks,
the usual way for event viewer would be on my o/s of vista 64bit and prolly the same for xp tho plz someone confirm this, is Control panel > admin tools > event viewer > custom views > admin events
once in admin events arrange the sorting by clicking on Source and read thru ur application errors
this is my report
------------------------------------- Level Date and Time Source Event ID Task Category Error 04/09/2009 03:08:15 Application Error 1000 (100)
Faulting application ExeFile.exe, version 6.10.1.22539, time stamp 0x4a01b457, faulting module _trinity.dll, version 6.10.1.22593, time stamp 0x4a01cdcb, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x003d96fb, process id 0x12f0, application start time 0x01ca2d04622c2573. -------------------------------------
reading thru the app errors that applied to my troubles (using cursor down arrow) i replaced all the dll on my pc with those off my laptop, in the intrests that the download client may have the odd frag damage being read/write god knows how many times off a single drive id suggest getting a trusted friend to mail u troubled files in a zip or rar so u can scan them safely i doubt ccp would oblige in this manner of mailing u singular files as ive never seen them provide a download list of dll file
for those wondering what a dll is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dynamic_linking#Dynamic_linking
so far my clients have been stable for the last 3hrs as opposed to the things turning off 30secs after flight time coz when all this started i was in space think i hold a record for the longest dock time =)
feedback appreciated
Really do hope this helps anyone else b4 considering a format
Cheers

You could always offer a download link for a replacement .DLL that steals your password

So, wait - you spent THREE DAYS trying to diagnose and fix a problem when a 20 minute re-install of the client or a 5-hour (OS plus drivers plus apps) reformat and Windows re-install would have done the trick? Sounds like a reformat would have been the smart thing to do... seriously, keep your music and stuff on a seperate drive so you can just reformat your OS drive, re-install everything, and you're good to go.

i like puzzles, if it comes down to replacing a few small files that keep the client goin and save time in reconfiguring u newly installed client/o,s id rather do that, given all the other options are delete this and that and pray or format, if this works on one out of ten systems then its a start , everyone is running under the assumption the cache is to blame or the gfx drivers are conflicting (which ccp went str8 to) or the client is just screwed coz of what a dev or beta tester said 5-6 years ago, least this is another option granted may/may not help and it'll save someone a headache
google it and see if someone else comes up with this

Ok, now can you fix the "0.5% chance of ccpfile.exe has had a serious error and will be shutdown" when landing on a new grid?
Because CCP ****ing can't. They can't even give me the old, fast, swiftly loading graphics that didn't crash.
So anybody anywhere who can wipe CCP's arse for them is always appreciated.
