Hey everybody. I'll try to make this as painless as possible, but there are never any guarantees.
My corp had recently done a small gang pvp op, about 8 of us total, and they had me, as one of the two or three Caldari pilots fly a Blackbird.(ECM Cruiser) My Electronics Warfare skill was at 3 so I had no problem equipping everything that entailed and I actually had a good time, even though I was popped second.
Anyway, I was building my skill to 4 when I started to browse the market and pick up the tech 2 jammers, when I realized that the only difference between the tech 2 and the best named was that the tech 2 jammer actually had more of an activation cost. Range/Falloff accuracy/strength was the same all across the board. And in the system I currently run around in, the best named jammers actually sell for less, if not the same price.
My question then, is should I just go for the best named seeing as how I get all the bonuses of a tech 2 jammer for a cheaper activation and overall isk cost, or is there some unseen bonus I'm going to lose out on not having tech 2 jammers?

Nope, as I understand it the Best Named Jammers are better. T2 Plates have a similar issue.

There are quite a few modules for which the best named is equal in stats or better than the T2 version, but usually the T2 version is much cheaper. If you're sure they cost the same (check different regions?) then use the named as it requires less CPU/grid/capacitor, definitely.

Correct, the best named ECM are identical apart from activation cost so it's purely cost vs cap use. If the named ones ARE cheaper then go for that, if they're not T2 works just as well.
