Edited by: Triladir on 07/09/2009 07:23:25 Folks, I need to check on how EVE deals with it's game mechanics on buy orders...
There's been a guy (for the sake of anonimity - lets call him 'Sister Amanda' ) who think's it's fun to buy ALL the isotopes in our station and reposting it for about 2,000k a unit... I'm trying to keep the 'tope supply up but this guy just keeps buying it... Not that I'm complaining, I've made several hundred million ISK off this guy so far...
However, it got fruity when one of my alliance members accused me of price gouging (and slagging me off to anyone who'd listen) and sent me a screenshot with 1 unit of isotopes at 2,000pu... Like WTF... My prices never got higher than 650.00pu
I think I just worked out how I got accused of ęgougingĘą And if I'm right the guy who accused me is a complete moroną
What I am assuming is if he tried to buy 1 unit of the most expensive isotope on the market for that station (the order wasn't mine, it belonged to the manipulator) to see who was selling it and what he actually got was one unit of the cheaper listing with my name on the transaction listing but instead of paying 650 for mine, he actually payed 2,000ą Thus making ME look like the gouger...
Can a few people confirm or deny this is how it works???

Confirmed. You always get the cheapest item in station, regardless of what price you pay for it.

Just point that guy to the official EVE Wiki: http://wiki.eveonline.com/wiki/Market_Discussions_FAQ#Current_Market_Prices_.28Asks.2C_Bids.29
Quote:
Q: When I bought an item from the 'second best' ask, why didn't that order's volume decrease?
A: Recall that the best order is always matched first. You might have right-clicked the 'second best' order to enter your bid, but the transaction processing system matched it against the 'best price' order. You chose to pay the 'second best' price to the seller who was offering the best price.

Your colleague is foolish but you are more foolish for not gouging more. If "Sister Amanda" continuously buys up all isotopes, you should raise your prices.

Your friend might not be a moron. Instead he has an alt doing the manipulation and he's trying to blacken your name as a way of distracting people.
Cynicism isn't cynical when it's true.

Cheers guys... I appreciate the support...
I'll just keep buying isotopes, posting them at almost indecently high prices... Lets see how much profit I can make and just how deep this manipulator's pockets are
So far I've sold 2 Bil ISK worth to 'Sister Amanda' in the last week ;) As late as last night they bought up my entire Stront and Helium supply up... Aren't they lovely...
And peeps in the Alliance are in no doubt who's the gouger too

Try improving a 0.0 market (it was quite a long way from Highsec) that is controlled by self proclaimed Commies. I can still hear the howls, even now.
Regardless, screwing your own Alliance is just stupid.
