Edited by: Hanse Davion on 20/10/2004 14:54:35 Papa thank you for the lvl4 missions in Shiva. Yet they got bugs right now but that is the point of testing right? Anyway I think they are awesome, hard as hell sometimes, but truly worth doing if you looking for some PvE combat.
PLEASE don't lower the difficulty!!!! I have been around since Beta 4 and this is the first time I've actually felt like there were agent missions out there that needed more then a frigate to fight. For a change when I return from a mission I know I have accomplished something and the reward was worth the trouble, time and effort put into it.
I know you have to go with 'majority', so if you do change them I understand. Till then keep up the EXCELLENT work and don't let the whiners get to you. Your jobs a stone cold ***** trying to keep the 'majority' fun and I personally just want to let you know that I appreciate the hard work of CCP considering the hardest program I ever wrote was a excel macro.
Keep up the great work!!

Since I haven`t been in shiva at all...
I see that everyone is happy with the current state of mission difficulty but every post I see about that involves combat.
Since some ppl don`t like or lack the skills to fight , what are the lvl4 "carebear missions" from manufacturing etc corps like?

Nor have I tried Shiva. What kind of reward can you expect from a level 4 kill mission? (discounting loot and bounties)
And yes, CCP are gods. But I've always said that :p ------------

lvl4 missions usually pay in the region of 200-400k. BUT, it is the bounties that pay ya wages. I made about 20 mil last night doing 3 lvl4 missions, 2 mordus and sommat else i cant remember the name of. Add to that the loot (which takes AGES cos u usually have to take on 30+ ships in a multiple spawn mission)
They are damn good fun thou
As for non combat orientated missions i dont know wot they are like as i am mainly a combat char

Edited by: X 00 on 21/10/2004 15:22:29 Lvl 4`s are great, I agree, and hopefully any minor bugs will be ironed out by the time shiva release comes around, it's even more challenging than most of what can be found out in 0.0 ,has some cool new ship types, and healthy rewards.
Today i had some Amarr customs officers trying to stop me on the way back from one of the Caldari navy missions, only in ickle ships so no risk, but amusing just the same, gives a little more depth to PvE, I hope it`s a sign of things to come.

Adding missions with proper difficulty is the way to go. Currently lvl3 missions are in the difficulty class "Done with eyes closed in a Cruiser. If you want challenge, do them in a frigate."
As long as lvl4 missions fall into the difficulty class "Hardest ones are nearly impossible to solo for an experienced Battleship pilot", I'm all good.

Just been testing some lvl4 kill missions and I am pleased to say that finally I feel challenged by some of them! Papa Smurf has done a great job so far and when the bugs are ironed out I can see myself going back to agent running for a long while.
Good to see Zor back too!

Heh, I lost my mega to Zor due to the defender launcher didn't work. I got the usual missilespam from Helheim. (And I was too slow to warp out and repair after I had fought them for a while). But I warped back in with my apoc and finished them off with two warp-outs to repair and gain cap. (Three medium sb's was too heavy on my cap). For the first time, I had to turn off the mwd to get the cap to last longer.
Zor, Olufami, Elena Gazky, Schmidt and 7 rogue escorts is a pretty good fight for a change from just meeting one of them.
Another mission gave me an Amarr Navy apoc and a few amarr navy cruisers to battle. But wasn't any problem even with a n00bish setup.
I will guess some will have some setups that "kills everything with no hassle", but I'm looking forward to have different setups for different types of missions, as I'm still a rookie in bs fighting.

exactly there is the problem. 0.0 needs to be increased in spawns tbh. And maybe there should be lvl4 missions which you can't solo but that's gamedesign. I'd personally like to see lvl4 missions being a lot harder tbh. |

I cant see them changing the level 4 mission difficulty, they are supposed to be done in gangs anyway even though you can do them solo if you know what you are doing. If anything make them dynamic (depending on the size of your gang and ships being used).
I've always had this idea in my head of dynamic missions anyway, your missions difficulty (number of ships you will face and ship types) would be calculated taking into account your mission history, time taken to do certain missions, armor/shields/cap remaining after each mission, ships lost on which missions etc etc. In my opinion this is the best way to create content that provides a challenge (other than pvp combat) without being too hard or too easy.
example: the 'mission system' knows that I have failed 3 mordus missions and even lost a ship during 1 of them so the next mordus mission thrown at me will have maybe 1 less ship on each wave, this will repeat until I have completed 2 or 3 missions of this type then the waves will start to increase in difficulty again until I start to complete them with low cap/shield/armor remaining, make any sense?
I'm sure this is open to exploits like purposly letting your cap/shields/armor go down on the last npc. but as the missions are made easier for you so would the rewards be to discourage this.

the level4 missions will no doubt be made more difficult when shiva is launched. they can be done solo now so more people can test them and iron out the bugs.

Edited by: Chepe Nolon on 23/10/2004 09:33:46 I don't see why it should be more difficult? Then it will be a gap between level 3 and 4. Level 3 is doable in a cruiser and level 4 requires a gang? Where's the missions for solo bs pilots then?

The last few lvl 4 "courier" type missions were IMO, not worth the time... I had one an "elephantine haul" that was 79,000m¦ of scrap, to be hauled 5 systems in 45 minutes, for a combined total of roughly 300k in reward+bonus...
I told my agent to get bent.
