Still my ship graphic there, checked in ships tab, and it showed my pod there, with empty ship, but the Graphic still showed me in a ship. When I double-clicked the ship, message of 'Your pod has no cargohold, do you wish to equip a ship'.
When I undocked, the correct graphic of my pod showed.

That's pretty vague don't you think. Try to go into as much detail as you can and explain exactly what is happening and what you see. That way people might take a guess at what is happening. Also a bug report might be in order.

long post warning, regarding filtering.
tl;dr: averages are now consistent, but not calculating/providing the average you want/expect to base your deviation filters on. In short they are the average of the orders that are up, not the traded average. ---- Joe podpilot need not read beyond this line. ----
Something is up with the way price averages are calculated for the filters. While they now appear to consistently get the same result (inconsistency was the previous problem), I do not find the results to be in line with the averages I would expect, namely something close to the daily or 5-day average.
I am getting strange results for some items (others *appear* to be ok), when deviation filters are on. What really raised my suspicion was that all the megacyte buy orders in Kador were filtered out. Since the deviation setting was very wide and the average of megacyte is easily in the 4-5k range (4.5k-5k in kador), then orders down to about 2k/unit should still have shown. However, every order (and the highest is 4.8k/unit) from 0.50/unit and up was being filtered out.
Market history data for the last month clearly shows that all daily median in megacyte falls within 4k to 5k isk per unit, so the average can impossibly be outside that range.
The deviations are supposed to be in percentage, not absolutes, and you can not type in the % char in the field, so we have to assume that part is working as intended. Trying various filter values concur that they are applied as percentages as intended (not as absolute numbers).
Testing with unusually narrow settings: [-1 ; 1] in the filter gives some unexpected results. Try it and you will see. From trying to explore the markets with that setting, it looks like the filters operate with 2 independent averages.
Case example: Tritanium in Kador, using a [-1;1] filter on buy and sell it shows the following ranges : sell @ 3.69-3.74isk buy @ 2.27isk Now if the filter is correct, those numbers are within 1% of the average.
As any trader can tell you, those numbers are laughably wrong or perhaps just naive. Contrast the above numbers to this: 5-day average hovering about 2.75isk +/- 0.02isk. Donchian channel the past 10 days: 2.6-2.95isk Daily median the past month: about 2.74-2.92isk. That shows that the average used in sell order filtering is about 1 isk too high (~35-40% too high) and it puts the average used in buy orders about 0.5isk too low.
So the conclusion seems to be that the averages that are fed to the filters are: the weighted average of the sell orders and the weighted average of the buy orders. And those are very likely being calculated correctly. The problem arises from the fact that I/we expect the traded average, which is usually close the the 5day average on the price history graph.
When we set filters, we want the deviations relative to the average traded price, if we can not access more accurate numbers such as average sell and average buy.
What the averages of the orders are is irrelevant, what matters is the average of what moves. We very clearly do not want to have it jacked up/down by superexpensive sellorder or ultralow regional buyorders that never move any units - but that is what it very much looks like we are getting.
Please change this asap. The current averages are not useful, since to compensate for them the filters have to be so lax as to become useless.
Pre 1.5.0 it worked. In 1.5.0, sometimes it was borked - someone cutting too many corners to optimize a need for speed effort I suppose. 1.5.1: consistent, but undesirable deviation filtering due to choice of averages.
Please drop me a email/game-mail if you want this submitted as a new bugreport, as the issue is different from the previous inconsistency one.

ok now that we have another patch number maybe the forces that be will FINALLY start to work on fixing the sound issues? or maybe we could get a dev to at least acknoledge that there is a problem... or maybe give us an explanation as to why we cant hear anything unless were staring up the exhaust tubes of our ship...
then again i AM talking about CCP...... /me throws hope back under the bed There once was a man from Nantucket. Who tried to build a good ship but said "**** it". He grabbed his glue and his duct tape too. And thats why the Minmatar all suck it. |

I'm having problems downloading the patch. I tried through the client and the website.
The client reports:-
There was an unexpected error while retrieving update status:

Error: [Errno socket error] (10060, 'Operation timed out', 'thread::connect failed with error 10060: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.\r\n')
Is there an alternate site to download the patch?

Heavy drones cannot hit large objects. Looks like changing the gunnery mechanics changes a lot when the object you shoot at is very big. For example in mission "The Infested Ruins" when you order Ogre IIs to shoot the structure, they are too far to actually hit it. Had to use sentries. And I'm positive, that this did not happen pre patch. --- Visit in game for nice items links http://eve.interkam.pl/eveships

You are indeed correct. In Apocrypha 1.5 we changed this to use the average price of the outstanding orders rather than the regional average of sold units. This was done for performance reasons. It was hugely expensive for the server to calculate this information for people with this filter set. Basically this was done as an emergency need-for-speed change.
The tooltip for the filter does tell you how the deviation is calculated but I agree that it's not as useful as the old system. For the long term we might revisit this and find a smarter way to report the same information but I'm afraid this is all we have for now.

Well, can't say I'm too impressed with this patch. Did anyone at CCP actually test this on a wide range of system types? WinXP? Win Vista? 32 AND 64 bit versions?
First off, I install the patch, "8.9 mbytes? cool...won't take long" I think...sure...15 minutes later nothing is happening. DXSETUP.EXE is still running and my system has pretty much frozen. Imagine my surprise when the system just reboots and the POST runs...no shutdown, just a restart. This appears to be a bad omen...
....and 30 minutes later I decide the black screen after the reboot isn't going to get better. So, cold boot the system again and I have do boot from last known good config to get the system running again.
Lets try it again. Start the patch process and yup, been waiting just on 10 minutes now while DXSETUP.EXE does what ever it is trying to do and...my....system...is...lagging...like...jita...used...to.....arrrrgghhhhhh!!!
I have several install directories (one per account) and at this rate it will another 3 days to update all of them.
FYI, I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate x64. Prior to this patch I've never had ANY problems with this system (been running the current install for over 12 months now).

LMAO, permanent fix to deysnc, eh... NO
Just patched, logged in and desynced 15 mins into a lvl 4. Not a very nice feeling when your shield looks healthy on your Golem but it's telling you a big lie and then you cant warp, your only option is to log and hope she's still alive when you get back. All I seem to do is play Eve but watch the log server for everything to turn yellow/red to know that I'm in trouble.
File a bug report, yes I will with the log servers attached, not that it will do much good (speaking from experience) |

Good stuff. Now how about fixing the Windows client crash and dump that occurs randomly on closing the client? This locks up my PC for 30-60 seconds and the last time it happened it caused a graphic driver to get hosed, which in turn changed a bunch of window positions and settings as it reverted to some kind of default VGA or something to give me a chance to save and close things. Usually this problem just locks me up while it makes the dump, then pops up the Microsoft reporting option window. CCP must have received many thousands of those reports from Microsoft with crash info surely sufficient for them to identify and fix the problem.

I rarely if ever had de-sync's before unless in massive FW fights since the last small fix went in.
Since updating the latest "FIX" I've lost connection on both accounts to the server with de-syncs about 10 times this night. Had to just quit for the night and log it was getting so bad, even eve-voice was screwed up.

I'm not really that IT savvy but my system was running perfectly until today and the only change has been the patch update. Any help would be appreciated even if it's to tell me that the problems aren't caused by the patch, thx.

Originally by: Callisto Ares I rarely if ever had de-sync's before unless in massive FW fights since the last small fix went in.
Since updating the latest "FIX" I've lost connection on both accounts to the server with de-syncs about 10 times this night. Had to just quit for the night and log it was getting so bad, even eve-voice was screwed up.
Vista 64bit
Had already applied the de-sync 'fix' line over a month ago to my eve config file.
Was starting to think I was alone. I've had this for over 2 months but get it even when running missions so my income is gone out the window. Took me 3 hours to run a 45 min mission last night then I just logged, couldn't be bothered with Eve.
What's this desnyc line of code?? |

May i interject something here. CCP,..the question comes to mind as to the condition of the OS that is being used at the time of install. maybe im not discribing or explaning well but ill give it a shot. If you got a lot of stuff running on your system, or if you use that machine for surfing and if you do then the chances are very good that there are bugs on it ie spyware and the like, Just how much would that effect EVE from running. I am under the assumption that a buggy system would "LAG", vs a clean system. And there is the issue of OS system updates ie are you running the latest system updates and patches from Microslop,...>OOPS sorry about that Mr Bill<
I myself dont have any problems with the updates or patches because i dont use my game machines >X2< for anything else other than EVE,...Dedicated machines. And i do keep both of them patched from Mr Bills house of OS software ie microslop.
>Im an old AMIGA user from way back<
But the question still remains would these factors contrubute to the problems that we see here in the usage and install of EVE?

Alright so I thought this was weird. Ive been havin trouble gettin this thing to work on Vista so I decided let me try to download the test server and at least try to play around on there. Get that downloaded start it up and bam it works as the Tranquility server. But when I try to open the other one up it doesnt work, I still get the same message. Hmmmm wtf. I dont get it but whatever. Just to make sure though when youre loggin in the test server it says Singularity on the login page under server correct? And also, Im sure we all apreciate CCP answerin that one persons question about the market but could yall at least give us a post that says youre workin on the rest of our problems. Im sure Im not the only one gettin ****ed off thinkin that yall are blowin us off.

Well as i stated before however, I have had little to no problem with updates up to this point. I believe there was one time that i did have an issue with a patch once a long time ago, i had to download the install from the site and nuke the EVE folder completely, ran a regester cleaner and then reinstalled, it worked great rom that point. But as far as patches from that point, ive always kept that system up to date and spyware free,...it dosent see the net otherwise,..and EVE has been stable scence. BTW i dont run an active virus protection like norton or C.A. but i do keep MALWAREBYTES on the system, that and a couple other goodies.
Runs good so far,...60 to 70 FPS. I havent had the opertunity to try out the BANK-BANG ZERO point yet though. that should be interesting.

Ok, first day, first client in is not sync'ed with server. Asteroid is 11 Km away, strip miner will not activate because it tells me I am not within 15 Km. I kill client and restart, all seems fine.
Today I have two clients running, mining with my Orca and Alt and a friend. For some reason the Orca is 22 KM away and I am able to put stuff in the corp hangers from my alt. Friend is able to do the same even though he shows Orca is 22 Km. No reason why something happened and Orca is out of range of other two ships, but they act if it is right next to them. Thought maybe server sync issues, but all clients show the orca 22 Km away.
Anyway, go drop load of ore, come back next to both ships and continue mining. Three rats appear in gravimetric site I am mining. The Orca acts like it was bumped and speeds away at over 1,000 m/s! As I am flying away I get about 39 Km away from hulk (friend) and retriever (my alt). Retriever's drones make short work of the rats. Both hulk and retriever had corp hanger open. Able to put ore into corp hanger, even though all clients show Orca 39 KM away. Three rats left wrecks 37 Km, 38 KM, and 41KM away. Have salvager on Orca, first two I can salvage like they are within 5KM, third one at 41KM complains I need to be within 5KM, tractor it 2 KM closer and able to salvage it from 39 Km away. Can gets dropped from one wreck, can't open it until it is showing as 2500 meters away.
Both My alt and friend close corp hanger, open corp hanger while Orca is 39KM away. Both able to place ore in corp hanger.

Has anyone else had the jitters since the patch?
Inside stations, and outside in space, when you spin the camera or goto warp there's a constant stutter in the motion.
Infact, if I open the framerate monitor (ctrl+f), I can clearly see the stutter in the graph scrolling. The graph itself have a distinct saw-tooth shape, but then I remember it being similar to that before, the noticeable thing is the sideways scrolling of the graph.
I also notice that in station, the big Caldari one with the 'wingy bits' [Station (Caldari 1)], there are three black rectangles on the interior wall which I've never noticed before. They look more like missing textures than than something deliberate. Not sure if that is related to the stutter.
This is happening on 3 separate eve installs, guess its time to fire up the logging thingy, see if that's moaning..

have him try to download the test server off of the eve downloads tab on this site. that made it work for me. not sure why but it did. even after that though i tried to switch all those files to the default folder and it wouldnt open from that folder. i had to keep it in my custom folder for it to work. just dont have him download the conversion patches and all that. for me it popped up and said i had to download that version manually then it worked. we might could know why if CCP would ever say somethin but as of yet all theyve said is one thing about some market crap. oh well.

On my computer with Vista it opens the opening screen before the login screen then comes up with a CCP error somethin thing that closes down the game. So I took the game off my computer and reinstalled the whole thing again but the same thing happend. Anyone know whats up with that?
Just wanted to be more specific since I wasnt earlier. The screen that has the Apocrypha thing on it with all the fancy colors and stuff pops up then a mocrosoft windows ting pops up tellin me CCP ExeFile has stopped working. Ive removed the game completey and reinstalled it 3 times now restarting the computer each time. Would be greatly appreciated if I could get some help with this.
I'm in the same boat as Recon - I momentarily get the splash page before I get a crash message. Both Windows (Vista 32) and CCP Log Server say it's exefile.exe. It worked like a charm last night, but I tried logging in 10 minutes after I'd initially logged out (and repeatedly since) and I've gotten nothing but the crash message each and every time.
I guess I'll try the Sisi workaround after I go kick something. Kick something really, really hard.
PS I can get to the login screen when I use the safemoded eve.exe ---------------------- Oh god how did this get here I am not good with computer |

Ya know im just wondering if this is a hardware problem and not a software issue. IM not going to try to do CCPs job here and try to diagnose all these problems but more and more that i here the issues, some of these issues could be hardware related, GPU bandwidth related or GPU "FUNK" and another firend of mine in the business calls it. Remember that EVE hits the GPU kind of hard and it has to be fast to survive regardless. Ive got a system at work that has a invidia 5300 in it. the proc is not the problem with this one either but i got to back the video all the way down jsut to log in and stay logged in otherwise it bails out back to windows. Now with my system i have now problems at all. All the problems that you all discribe, i dont have at all. Thisis why im suggesting that the problem might be hardware or could be hardware atributed. My system is:
ASUS A8V Deluxe AMD 3400 X64 VisionTec Radeon HD 3850 AGP 4 gigs of ram XPeeee, latest service pac and all the system updates I myself get between 55 and 75 frames and nto glitchie at all Throw your systemout there and lets compare a bit |

Edited by: Jitalein on 12/09/2009 12:31:36 Ok, I verified the problem: I reinstaled Eve, eve using a different internet provider for testing puposes.
I stay in jita and look at market details. After about 3-4 minutes the market stops responding but the chat still works. The game doesn't disconnect me, it stays like this, unfunctional, even for 60 minutes (I tried).
In other words: I can't play Eve anymore since patch and I am hesitating playing missions due to this as even fitting ships is ok for a couple of minutes but stops responding after a while.

It seems very apparent that the server has magnificently crashed! It began with market issues, followed by everything else's steady decline of functionallity. Any news would be very much apreciated. Thankyou.
I am running windows XP 32-bit service pack 3. I am however pretty certain that this is not related. |

File a bug report, yes I will with the log servers attached, not that it will do much good (speaking from experience)
From the devblog

Clock skew is not desync When your shield and cap show wrong values, e.g. you start taking armor damage while still showing healthy shield status or the inverse when you don't take armor damage when you think your shield is gone, you're experiencing clock skew. Same applies for analogous cap issues. This is a simple artifact of PC clocks which all run at slightly different speeds. Your client will re-sync its internal clock when you log in, undock and jump but if you stay in the same space long enough, chances are you'll get slightly skewed. Usually not enough to notice, but it happens. On a couple of occasions in the past a server or proxy clock on TQ has gone out of sync, resulting in the same symptoms, but we've fixed our servers so they should never do that again.

Since the patch has come out it seems that the GPU and/or CPU load has increased significantly. My system running substantially hotter to the point where dual accounting, which I have run on this system with no problems for 2 years, is really really struggling and my GPU and CPU are reporting higher temps than before the patch.
I'm hearing other people are having this issue as well.

"stutter" or pulsing of frame-rate, noticeable when you spin the camera - Yep Poorer performance running multiple accounts - Yep Getting randomly disconnected - Yep
Just like to add that scanning rigs seem to randomly not be getting applied - forcing a ship change. Could it be in some way because these are large rigs fitted inside a frigate sized ship somehow ? Either that or there's some changes to the scannability of all site types in high level WHs (more difficult and variable) that didn't make the patch notes.
Anyone else seen this last one ?
Otherwise, ok so far. But then if the desynch isnt fixed (as some have suggested) what again was the point of this patch ? Ho hum.

Well, I sent in 6 bug reports yesterday due to the desync problem and an EWAR bonus problem.
Got a reply saying that they have fixed the desync issue on one of their test servers but that a hotfix will need to be pushed out to us to resolve it. No date as to when it will happen. My guess is that they will hold of until Dominion seeing as its only affecting a few of us.
Are we allowed to paste/post bug report response in the forum or is it against rules? |

This patch has been a real pain in the arse! One of my accounts i have no problems with but the other having problems every day. When i log in to select main or alt it crashes alot and changing resolution to lowest and turning down all graphics does nothing. My overview is constantly messed up i have to look in local to be sure of standings of players and when i go into my saved fittings and select them for a ship it keeps leaving one or two items off and have to click fit again. I have deleted my eve client and reinstalled it cleared my cache and is still messed up. Roll on next patch ASAP CCP!!!

Now it's impossible. After about 10 minutes things are slowing down, and open tabs takes 1-5 minutes. With screen turning black and say client doesn't answer just to come back again... FPS dropping to 5-10, and after 15-20 mins everything stops working. Closing down clients takes up to 20 minutes.

Two minor issues to report.
1. Entering a station in a pod when you have no ship at the station results in insurance giving you the rookie ship and tritanium when you haven't actually lost a ship.
2. Fitting strip miners (not sure if others do this) from a ship maintenance array or Orca results in the miners not showing on the ship and no laser animation while mining, however you still get ore, just no laser animation.
