It seems odd that we can remotely (ie from another station - or in space) see the contonts of our hangers, so why not be able to open station containers within a station? I have all my bpo's (for instance) stored in a container to keep it all tidy (for the benefit of Scotty, of course! :-) ) but, when buying new ones am unable to check if I already have what I am considering buying, also would be usefull when buying new datacores or manufacturing goods...please can we have this facility added?
Thanks, Eniws

You have two options.
1) You can start a contract remotely for the station container, which gives you a list of everything that's in it. The list isn't very useful if you have a lot of items in the container as it's not searchable.
2) Get a program like EVE Asset Manager which can download a full listing of your equipment. You can create a query within that program to list all items in any station container at a particular station, or even within a specific container. There's a delay between when the items go in and when they show up, but that shouldn't be a problem for things like BPOs that don't have a high frequency of change.

thanks for above - but surely, as it is my property, ccp should make the contents viewable - it should not need a 3rd party app for such a simple task?

Edited by: Vasundhara on 15/09/2009 19:43:15 What they really need is to implement a true system for organizing hanger contents where I can have folders and sub-folders to put things in without messing around with station containers in the first place. It doesn't really immerse me in the game any further to think of my items being inside actual cannisters except when I'm planning how to load up secure cans in a hauler. Since station cans can't leave the station anyways their restrictions don't have any impact on the logistics of transporting goods and are simply a nuisance to use. I suppose they could manage station inventory like the folder system used for bookmarks but that system has issues as well. I like that bookmarks are stored server-side but the fact that you lose the hierarchy if you reset your client data is really obnoxious. You can make all the bookmarks you want in rapid succession but they can't keep a handful of database entries to keep track of the folder structure?

It's very annoying, but that's the way it is.
I use EveHQ to do this, but it only updates from the API every 24 hours. (all asset manager 3rd party software has this restriction. The restriction is to reduce the load from the API server accessing in-game info).
Edit: another option is to put an alt in that station - but this is also very annoying.
