For those who know this it is probably nothing, but do you know how to tell a BPO apart from 20 BPCs? Do you??
You sort them by type! The one at the top is the BPO!! --

I say "Oh my god" and who gives me a response? Chribba?? That is a joke, right?
Anyway, thank you Chribba. The problem was how to tell a BPO apart from 20 BPCs and so I can carry them off as they all look the same. --

random short explanation why stuff is the way it is and not the way it wants to be:
bpo/bpc cant really be distinguished, lots of server querys and stuff. A bpX doesnt really know what it is until you look at it. Sorting in S&I helps (lots of querys again i guess).
i guess if tehy would put a label on bpX to show if its orig or copy, then you can wathch how long it takes to see your 162 bpX slowly appearing with the tags (and melting down the server database with it if enough do it).
i geuss sooner or later (more later, who knows, "need for speed" *cough*) CCP will find a way to convert it and make it easier. So ppl will now (then.. in that future) whine because the nifty killmail they got was just a stupid covetor BPC and not a covetor bpo :(
:P always rabble ^^ regardless what is

i dont think so. since the stuff knows it.. its just not "preread" because it takes so much querys. the cat on the other hand...

Try to explain why it is possible to find the BPO by sorting all the BPs. I have tested it several times and the BPO is always the first one after a sort-by-type. --

no clue honestly. it was for a long time that you couldnt really distinguish and CCP also explained that due to some querys. Maybe that sort of info was available but except form the sort by type there was no way to "see at glance". and "somewhere in the middle" you will end up on the bpc/bpos. but nice hint. Bit ate though, i already sorted my stuff in bpo/bpc hangar ;) but good for a quick recheck. thanks :P

Nice job sneaking in a BPO/BPC whine thread though. The forums just don't have enough of them lately.

Long story short, it doesn't work 100% of the time. For some reason I was always having my BPO's lined up before the copies but last time I went through my blueprints I have to show info on them all to see which was a copy and which wasn't as they were in no apparent order.

It may have something to do with when the item is created. BPC's made from a specific BPO would always appear after the BPO if ordered by date of creation (which may be how the game orders like items when you select "sort by type").

This is just a guess, but I bet that when you sort by item type, the BPO isn't being put at the top because it's a BPO. It's being put at the top because it has some other characteristic that puts it ahead of the other BPC's when sorted. I say this because sometimes people write sorting algorithms to sort using multiple "orders". IE, when you sort by type, all items of the same type are also sorted by a secondary characteristic, such as name, quantity of the stack, or perhaps age. I'm guessing that the BPO is being placed in front because the BPO has a characteristic such as being older than the BPCs (because you created the BPCs by copying the BPO) or because the BPCs have not been "assembled". Will have to test this some time.

Could be because BPOs have infinite runs? That's the only real characteristic that differs between an original and a copy of it that I can think of off the top of my head that would place BPOs ahead of BPCs every time.

But does the client know the amount of runs a BPO/BPC has before you click "show info"? Seems like it'd be the same issue as the game not knowing the difference between BPO/BPC in the cargohold/hangar.
Date a creation would probably be the easiest way to explain it. Item ID on the BPCs is higher because the item is new and thus when place in order always appears after the BPO (lower ID).

It's easy, just right click > show info on them all till you find the BPO.

That works, but gets time consuming when you start talking about hundreds of blueprints. Hell, even dozens gets annoying.

The answer is simple, the BPO is the one that always gets destroyed when you get suicided traveling afk to Jita.

I can partially confirm this while I was doing heavy copying duty. The BPO was always either the last in the bunch of BPs or the first. I'm guessing it has to do with item IDs of the copies being higher (newer) than the BPO's.

Confirming/Expanding on this.
BPO will be 1st if you sort by type, or last if you have hangar open and deliver the copy job.

Also confirming this even given the complete and utter lack of any proof.
