Ive just come back from a 3 month break and I still have the problem of my weapons been stupidly quiet (if i rotate the ship to certain spots it fixes it) and the same with missile impacts hitting me.
Explosions and sounds in the distant and no drama at all
So is this still an ongoing issue or just me now??

Yes, nothing has changed. Quite sad isn't it? It feels like CCP wouldn't give a damn. Three months is quite a long time to fix problem this big!

I just wish that lasers sounded more like in this vid between 3:48 to 4:06 Its from Serenity, on the dvd/bluray it sounds even better though.
If you dont know the movie the whole linked vid is good to watch hehe.

Allegedly there is a "fix" coming with Dominion. There has been an increasing din of complaints about sound issues since Apoc - for good reason. The whole concept of being immersed in an alternate reality has been trashed due to sound problems.
You're just another player who is disappointed, annoyed, and baffled as to why a perfectly good sound engine has been replaced with veritable dung.
For example: activate a shield hardener or two and pretty soon the loud droning excludes everything else. Zoom out, zoom in, and voila! Battle sounds! But slowly the droning increases until that is all you hear again.
I could go on and on with similar examples, but without a doubt this deterioration of player experience has been the most aggravating aspect of Eve since I started playing over two years ago.
Just completed the Caldari epic arc and in the final, cataclysmic combat mission I may have well as been deaf as a stump for all the realism it conveyed.

Still bad? If I'm zoomed out to more than 3km from my ship I get no game sound at all, not a whisper.

Three months?? It's been this crap since Apocrypha was released in March, that's a damn sight longer then three months, that's six months already.
Tbh I barely log in so I'm getting less bothered as time goes by, if I can't even hear the ships explode what's the point.

According to the devs all the sound problems were fixed in the last patch, and that fixed nothing so I wouldn't hold your breath on that.
What really puts the cherry on the cake is that one fix is as simple as sticking in a new config option for sound at ship instead of sound at camera and a new conditional statement in the sound processing subsystem to disable distance effects. And the players have been asking for this for a long time. Along with disabling station environment sounds.
At this rate they'd do better to make the client code open source and let the players fix it themselves.
