Greetings
I'm moveing to wh space and decided to put up a pos there.
1. Should i go for small, medium or large one?
2. Also what are the costs of pos per month (fuel etc)?
3. I already have a small tower, but would this be enough for defending you safespot?
4. Also what sort of modules i should put in it for defense? I will only use it as a safe spot, hangar and storage.
5. What other things i should consider while moveing there?
Thank you for your imput!
Respectfully,

Small if you are going for a day trip, medium if you plan to stay a few days or so, faction large if you plan to stay forever.
Small are impossible to defend and easy to destroy, so great for a place to run to and hide, but not a place to make a stand.
Quote: 2. Also what are the costs of pos per month (fuel etc)?
Depends on tower, how much fuel it consumes (depends on what is online), and current market prices. Work it out for yourself.
Quote: 3. I already have a small tower, but would this be enough for defending you safespot?
It takes about 5 battleships or stealth bombers to destroy a small tower in a reasonable amount of time.
Quote: 4. Also what sort of modules i should put in it for defense? I will only use it as a safe spot, hangar and storage.
Small short and long range weapons on a small tower. I wouldn't bother with ECM or shield hardeners Small to deal with stealth bombers and larger. A webifier and warp disrupter would be good to if you can fit.

Do you have POS-sitter alts that can scan in case you get podded, or get locked out by a closed wormhole? You'll want to get back to your tower again!
If there is already a tower in the system, then it is usually a bad idea to setup there. If there is a medium or large tower, then it is a really bad idea. If there are multiple large faction towers from the same corp, then it is just plain stupid to setup there.

Good advice here. Also if you haven't already read the guide here:

Edited by: Vasundhara on 17/09/2009 14:44:59 As far as cost, last time I ran numbers it was low 40s in million ISK for 30 days of fuel for a small faction tower. Double that for a medium, double that again for a large. I'm not sure of the ratio of difference in fuel savings for a faction tower over non-faction.
Edit: This was for a Dread Guristas small tower so it is based of Nitrogen Isotopes prices. Not sure if the other fuels are significantly different.

I have a small tower in a wh with exactly 0 defence. It's been there for a couple of months. I live in a class 1 wh, because my corp is small. I don't have to worry about caps showing up to blast me. Most people see the pos, and just drive right on by. But, not all of them. I had a group of about 6 bs's come in and attack my pos. I logged on in the middle of the siege, and of course the orca I was in warped back to my home. The pirates were foaming at the mouth to get their hands on my orca. They offered to stop shooting the pos if I would turn it over to them. I just laughed. Gathered the stuff from my corp hanger, and loaded my ships from the ship maint bay into the orca. I anounced to them I'd be logging off, and have fun blowing up less than 150 mil isk worth of stuff. They made all sorts of nasty threats about how they'd blow up my orca too, but I new the odds of them hanging around over 24 hours to kill my pos were small. Ya see, in my little chunck of 0.0 space, the wh's collapse in about 16 hrs. They'd have to log off with at least a scanner in my system, and scan a way in a day or so later to finish off my pos. There simply isn't enough value to make them want to do that. Sure enough, a day later, my pos comes out of reinforced, and heals it's self. And the pirates are off to find easier targets.
I planned my wh base to not be worthwhile to kill, and kept it cheap enough that if it does get killed, I'll just put up another one. For the price of the fuel for a large tower, I can loose a small tower every month. But, I'm not in a wh with easy highsec access, and I'm not in one that makes a lot of money, so most corps capable of easily taking out a pos won't bother coming in to hassel me.

Sure it's not a class 2? Or can BS's enter Class 1's now? Used to be a 20m kg limit to class 1's.
Nice story though

Have heard a couple things about BS and C1. One is that there is a hard limit on WH's heading into C1s that restrict the ship type to BC or lower. Similar to deadspace warpgates. The other would be most entrances to C1 are subject to mass limitations that restrict BS.
A way to test it would be to be in a C2 that has a K162 leading to a C1. This would be a C2 class WH that tends to allow in BS. If you can get into the C1 with out getting a restricted ship message then we could know. It has to be a K162 leading into as C1 if it is the front half of the WH then you will probably be subject to the mass restritctions.

When it comes to size , Large if you are mining asteroids , otherwise small or medium does the job. "Subtlety is a thing for philosophy, not combat. If you're going to kill someone, you might as well kill them a whole lot." - Vulcan Raven, The Last Days Of Foxhound |

Minmatar Control Tower Medium
Ballistic Deflection Array x 4 Explosion Dampening Array x 4 Heat Dissipation Array x 2 Photon Scattering Array x 1 Ship Maintenance Array x 1 Corporate Hangar Array x 1
30hrs of stront (6k for a med)
If ppl are that determined to reinforce it, they are going to use a lot of ammo and time doing it and with 30hrs of stront in it, any entrance they used will be gone.

This, the time saved by using a 75% refining array will be better used to mine more ABC ores thus negating the cost of the extra fuel many times over, I was making 5.2 billion ISK per month in a large with refinery compared to about 2 bill a month with a small and hauling ore to market taking 3 times as much time doing it.
This was solo in a class 3.
cost to run large= 200 mill per month. cost to run small= 50 mill per month.
