Are you sure you're using it right? I'd take a Moa over Caracal any day. __________ Capacitor research |

The caracal can be a capable ship in anyones hands as all the need to do is be able to fire heavy missles (for the most part).
The moa however is a beast of a cruiser, but to really make something of it, you need good skills. She can pack enough firepower and take enough damage to do level 3 kill missions just fine with the right tuning. However, its greatest downfall is speed. You either need to sacrifice much power to get speed, or she's just too heavy to accellerate worth a hoot. Being so slow, in the current pvp atmosphere, the moa is a sitting duck waiting to be blown to feathery peices by the nearest battleship. "Speak quietly and carry a big torpedo."

NPC
Moa, 4x 250mm Rails, MWD, sensor Booster, Power diags.
Nothing gets in range to do damage.

Edited by: Slithereen on 23/10/2004 06:32:14 Edited by: Slithereen on 23/10/2004 06:31:42 If you want PvP, a Caracal or a Moa should not be your first choice in the Caldari line. It should be a Blackbird for obvious reasons.
Back when Caracals can still fire cruise missiles, the choice for PvP is obvious. But now all it fires is heavy missiles.
You should not want to use both against a BS, but if you're looking for an anti-frigate, anti-inty platform, they both have their respective points. Some people are modding cruisers for such roles rather than wait for Destroyers or pay an arm and a leg for an Assault.
Personally, if you're running missions, I like a Moa better as it can better shield-tank damage. Caracals have poor cap, and impossible to armor tank. You can run missions or npc hunt with Caracals so long you are willing to put up buying large stocks of missiles and keeping yourself well supplied.

Caracal lacks grid. Moa can fit 2x 100AB and be modded for frig killing that way, caracal can not without using MWD and making itself a nice target for a BS.
For 'normal'role intended pvp use (killing other cruisers ?), I might indeed choose the caracal over moa. Problem is, cruisers arent used much against other cruisers. It's either killing frigs or holding down ans softening up BS. ------------------------------------------------------------------------

Moa rocks for NPC hunting, PvP it sucks. Moa can sit at long range and pound like hell. All you have to deal with is the occasional missile, and the Moa's enhanced shield tanking can deal with that no sweat. I <3 my Moa :).

Your 250mm 'Scout' Accelerator Cannon perfectly strikes Serpentis Soldier, wrecking for 319.4 damage. |

wow, didnt realize this was such a hard question. what skills are important for fighting with a moa. ive started to train cruiser to lvl 4 and next is gunnery to lvl 5 and sharpshooter. after all that comes surgical. i figure these are the important ones for hybrids. what skills are particularly important to a moa driver?

personally i prefer the moa as ive got good gunnery and shield skills.
however if your skills are average or poor a caracel would be better

obviously noones used a caracal in a fleet fight to destroy enemy inties and frigs?
it rles for it....fit 2 x webifiers and watch for someone to get too close.....5 heavy missiles = dead frigs - any inty will die in 2 volleys.
