Don't know if this is in the right forum but hey...
I have an old 19" TFT sitting in the spare room which hasn't been used for ages. Its a VGA connection, but my current screen and gpu are DVI input only. Is there a sort of converter which I can get to allow my VGA screen to connect to my DVI gpu? Just sorting out a second account and it would be awesome to have a second screen up.
Cheers

DVI includes both digital and analog pinouts. Converting a DVI output to an analog VGA input is simply a matter of mapping the pins.
You can buy dongles that do this for a pittance.

...That being said, dual screen doesn't really work well with two accounts running. You'd have to play both accounts in windowed (cause fullscreen will minimize one or the other), and you'll have to position the windows just right, lest you want to be hit by massive lag.

Put converter on Video Card and use VGA Cable , Problem Solved. Look in the back of your closet in that box with all those old cables

just go gpu DVI>DVI to VGA adapter> VGA cable>monitor then open both accounts in windowed mode, if they have different resolutions, you can make 2 eve folders instead of opening both boxes from one eve folder so you don't have to change settings every time. and to auto relocate the windows perfectly use this http://gwr.orekaria.com/

Ok I've found a converter and set up my screens on my desk. I'm trying to set them up but getting in a muddle. My main screen is a 22" widescreen, the other a 5:4 aspect 19". If I set the screens to act as one horizontal plane the res gets all screwed up. I want them both on just to act independently of each other so not the clone option... help?

Or use the Manager that came with the Video Card. I know ATI comes with Catalyst that tends to be a lot easier then windows.

Even using windows is easy enough. I've got the same kind of set-up at the moment.

The second screen doesn't show up in display properties. Its showing in device manager as "plug and play monitor", so perhaps I need to install the drivers?
If thats the case im having a hard time finding them. Its an LG L1919S, but i can't find the drviers for it anywhere.

Edited by: Marko Riva on 20/09/2009 14:34:03 Not all DVI connectors still have the analog VGA. DVI-I does but DVI-D does not. Make sure your GPU is DVI-I.
Monitor drivers, although I doubt it'lld do the trick.

Edited by: Hull Blaster on 20/09/2009 14:35:12 Its all connected up, and the screen works when I select the "clone" option... but it won't recognize it in device manager as an LG screen just "plug and play" monitor. I had the disk somwhere but god knows where thats gone now... and looking on the net its as if the thing never bloody existed. LG's website has no downloads section either.
I found that one a minute ago... tried to get the computer to install it from a specific location but says "cannot complete wizard" or something like that.
