It's a shame to see Dystopia go down like that, impressive for Pandemic, but wow.

my guess: - dystopia had RDs on the haulers to go against bombers - PL used at least one lock breaking bomb and afterwards had ECM superiority due to dystopia losing locks

Industrials have more midslots than any other ship available for the point value.
We are using them to remote sensor boost / remote eccm boost the ships. PL brings damps, jams, etc.
We did not throw the match; there is effectively no counter to that setup. --

Being very spread out would help, since the bombs rely on you being bunched up at the start, it is however very hard to counter all the ECM combined with the massive DPS from those bombers once they start hitting something. Their ability to keep the bombers alive is the biggest issue.

Obviously you have ZERO experience with Industrials and their mid slots.
Go back to the basement and your fritos and let the adults talk.

The bombs only hit 2 ships. We had planned on using the curses to neut the rooks from the PL team. They got hit hard by the bombs and were finished off quickly.
After that, pretty much everyone on our team was permajammed. The combination of jamming, damping, and target painting, combined with the huge damage from the torps against anything with a sig radius and the area affect damage of the bombs against anything small, not to mention any part of the rest of their fleet, is going to be incredibly hard to beat.
Maybe a team full of T3 cruisers would be the best counter. Not sure. We had 3 hours to come up with a strategy against that; all the theorycrafters need to keep in mind that the first time anyone had seen that setup was 3 hours before we had to fight it. And no one else in the tournament is fielding that strat; PL have exclusive rights on it at this point.

I'm glad you're upset about it. We aim to grief people, and if we couldn't do it to PL, it warms my heart that we could grief you. How much money did you lose? --

An industrial only costs 3 points, and their support makes a huge difference :I Plus it's funny!
Anyways i had about 2 hours to come up with a setup to fight PL with, that's what i tried, didn't work, maybe if i'd done different setups on the curses *shrug*
don't really think i'm capable of coming up with a counter to their setup tho, i couldn't come up with one i liked vs their setup last tourney either ;P
i was basically thinking we'd have one curse neut their bombers (while rapier with 4 webs kept them from getting close enough to bomb us), other curse would go disable both rooks with 5 neuts on one, then the other, then splitting them and leaving on both.
our rooks were supposed to jam their bombers and hopefully scimitar so we could kill the bombers
unfortunately so our curses could stop their rooks jamming fast i put mwds on them, and not enough buffer, so they got owned (not well thought out enough) each curse had 156 sensor strength btw rapier, damnation and guardian were supposed to be pretty hard to jam unless they jammed/killed the indies. (if rooks don't have abs then maybe plated ab cursees coulda got them?) but i'm sure they had abs + claymore bonus = curses can't catch..
guardian fed cap to the guardian which had a local tank (+ some drones from rapier) figured they'd try to kill curses/rooks first, and they did.
GF PL, least we lost to the best team
Edit; lol just realized we fielded 102 points and nobody noticed ;P

you are seriously upset about something and seem to have lost your cool with the personal attacks.
its amazing that you are arguing FOR the industrials after that match. the proof is in front of your face and yet you still cling to some fantasy that having industrials in your lineup is useful. a cormorant would have provided some damage and a few mids to work with.
please come back with yet another non-argument about how useful industrials are in pvp and the tournament. you are doing a splendid job so far.

They fielded it yesterday too, but I see your point, there wasn't all that much time to devise a counter, let alone test anything. Once the Curses went down you lost both a lot of DPS and the ability to shut down ships that were being a pain, effectively crippling your entire setup from the get-go.
I'd love someone coming up with an effective counter, bombs may be awesome to see put to good use, but it gets boring if they literally slaughter everything they run into.

Here's my vote for a counter:
2 damnation 2 sacrilege 2 vengence 1 logistics 1 abaddon
ECCM / sensor boosters in the mids, armor tanked, and everyone who can fit missiles fits Assault missile launchers and standard missiles. Hopefully take out the bombers, and then go to work on the rest of the stuff. Still, without the bombers, there's another 5 ships to get through, including a T3 and a logistics. |

I wonder how many extra industrials would be required to actually raise an issue with the rules guys? Perhaps we should have just added 3 more??
Their impact on the points rules must be taken into account when attempting to assign a value to these deceptively valuable ships

Wouldn't work, scimitar would keep the bombers alive vs that with no problems, and bombers do a lot of DPS vs stuff with big sigs like you're fielding..
