I recommend not assuming, just call all the eve female characters 'she' and if there is a guy sitting behind the woman then he will probably get annoyed enough to eventually tell you he ain't a she. I roleplay... there is this computer game called "Earth - The First Genesis" where i play a character in the early 21st century.

However, in all other cases I make sure that the situation is quite clear. Happily married, have some children, and one of the devil spawn picked my toon.

Actually I know of one specific instance. One of my CEO's, early after launch, was openly *** and unashamed of it. He was not "flaming" nor seeking companionship after that manner. The joking comaraderie was stellar, open, and accepting. Due to rl commitments he bequethed his character to another corp mate, thus my not naming the character, and to be quite honest I feel that if he had stayed around many things would have gone differently for our corporation then it had. His dedication, strength of will, and clear headed thinking is what I remember of him. The other stuff... was just joshing material as we went about our daily business in Eve. Thus proving that the nature of the avatar picture has nothing to do with the person behind it. Of course those who choose to make that some sort of issue, the so called "cross dressing", reveal that the problem is with them... not with the person so attacked.

This could have been a nice story that we'd have all been skeptical of, but then she had to yank out a photograph of them at a convention. aim9xcite	Posted - 2004.10.23 19:20:00 - [55] Edited by: aim9xcite on 23/10/2004 19:29:02 when i first started playing EVE 7 months ago i used one of my husbands characters to go in and look around a bit. it felt weird being on a male avatar character. so very shortly there after i created my own. in some ways i think thought that alot of women who play this game either dont admit it because a:)no one will believe them and b:)there are some strange people out there - even in the world of EVE. i have had alot of people try to recruit me because i am a woman and they say it is a good attractor for getting guys to join have no idea if that is true or not but also have had the 'i want your corpse cuz your avatar is soooo cute'....or my favorite 'i cant blow you up because your avatar is so good looking (or to cute) took me close to five months to prove to a guy in another corp that i really was a chick.....even after he heard my voice on ventrilo he just thought it was my husband getting me to say something....very hard to nut to break saddest day in EVE by far is when my sec rating went positive........sobs

Can anyone explain? I can understand a few cases here and there, but I don't understand why people who claim to be straight would want to be a girl.
