To be honest, Battleships aren't really feared by any other ships but other battleships. They have terrible tracking and the ship that is opposing only needs to take one or two hits before it can get into effective range. After it is range it's completely immune to most of it's damage moving even if it's webbed, even battleships can actually dodge other battleships in close ranged combat.
My suggestion is to have a toggle for large weapons to decrease the rate of fire greatly and increase the damage multiplier greatly so that the pilot would have to time his hits instead of just pushing F1 and praying that it hits often. I was thinking a x4 duration and a x4 damage multiplier. Maybe a little less for long ranged weapons like Tachyons and Rail guns.
This and one other thing, if two battleships are broadsiding each other, why do they miss if the guns don't even have to turn to hit the other battleship because the battleships are huge and slow. It's the issue where the guns always hit in the same place again, I mean, just because they didn't hit the same part of the ship twice doesn't mean they completely missed, that's ridiculous.

Battleships have drone bays, neuts, and such. You can also fit tracking computers and target painters...also, they can only orbit one person at a time. Other BS can fly out and minimize their transversal.

Just had a massive discussion on vent, all of those are useless against a single HAC.

Clearly you and your friends suck at pvp. I one shot AF's, 2 shot cruisers and have no trouble killing HACs, recons, BC's, CS's and of course other BS's at any range from 0m to 60km with a completely ordinary megapulse abaddon. AF's cannot be tracked up close, but they don't typically start at 0m and I do carry drones . I'd say AF's are useless, they have little tank and do little damage. Massive waste of money. Same with HAC's, the only thing they are better at than a BC which costs 1/2 as much is running away. I don't consider that very useful. I prefer to just win the fight. -----------------------------------------------------

Not talking about a battle with more than two people fighting, if a HAC finds a battleship alone and is fit for PvP, even poorly, it will most likely win due to tracking and the battleship's lack of active defense and anti-cruiser weaponry.

And that's the way it should be. Battleships are not meant to be soloing monsters that can tear down everything. If you're not fit to fight smaller ships then you will and should have issues.
Look at a real life carrier group. You think an aircraft carrier can go out there solo? There are half a dozen support ships\subs that go out with it every single time.
Either learn to fit your ships better for small gang engagements, learn to pvp better or use different ships. You have a lot of options.
The end is extremely f'ing nigh. |

You should try running these HAC vs BS "simulations" with a BS pilot that isn't a complete idiot, because I know you haven't actually tried in actual PVP otherwise you would know better.

That's a pretty bold generalization. Battleships don't usually roam around solo, but if you were going to solo in a battleship, you'd undoubtedly fit a heavy neutralizer, carry damage or ECM drones, and have a powerful tank. HACs are nice but without capacitor they'll die pretty quick to an ordinary battleship.
I think you are confounding ship class with player skills. HACs are usually flown by people with very good skills, whereas many battleships are flown by rank amateurs. Among equally-skilled pilots, it will come down to the battleship winning or the HAC escaping. Battleships aren't very good at tackling, I'll give you that.

exactly this. A solo'ing BS will normally have atleast 1 hvy neut, and cap boosters. Usually a pretty heavy tank aswell, though not always. It would be hard if not impossible for a BS to lose 1v1 to a HAC so long as the BS pilot isn't completly ****fit.
As for OPs sugjestion. Holy Gank Damage batman! If there's ever abuse for a game mechanic this would be it
