I find myself in a strange position with regards to my Corp and Alliance, Outwardly they both proclaim themselves to be fiercely anti-pirate and general good guys but from what I've seen so far they're basically just the same themselves. They seem to consider "Gate Camping" to be the most refined sort of PvP available and a sign of competence. They gank anyone who passes through, reds, neutrals, unarmed indys, anyone at all without offering explanation or solution.
I voice my concerns about their actions and it seems like I'm the only one in the entire alliance who thinks they're just being pirates themselves, they tell me that it "Must be done because that's just how EVE is". Am I so out of touch these days? Do my YEARS of experience count for nothing anymore? This isn't how we did it in IRON.
Now, allow me to explain, I've done my share of killing in my time and I have no problem with piracy but it just strikes me as wrong that these people hold Gate camping in such high regard and honestly believe that they are the good guys, if they just STATED that they are pirates and killing for fun I'd have no problem at all with their actions.
Normally I would just use a corp for a while and then leave taking with me as much as I can, however, I find myself unable to do anything to these people on account of actually being friends with some of them, infact it was one of these people who convinced me to come out of "retirement" a while back and start playing again.
The very idea of some overwhelming gate blob blowing you up with no explanation or warning while telling you "It's for your own good, we're the good guys!" seems so unbelievably idiotic as to actually anger me, it's gotten to the point where I refuse to do anything for them.
I don't know what to do, without these people I'm very likely to just stop playing altogether but as it is I'm basically doing nothing anyway...
Your opinions?

when it comes to getting along with someone or not, there is no in-between. you either do get along with them or you dont.
if you don't: seek another corp if you do: stay.

We're from the government, we're here to help you. We know what's best for you, trust us.
I agree, those who claim to be better than pirates who gank everything at gate camps and bubbles, I consider them lower than pirates.

I would suggest searching out others who feel as you do or perhaps take a break for a few months.
I fail to see why "without these people I'm very likely to just stop playing altogether".
My play-style hasn't met the corps or alliances I've been in recently and I'm taking semi retirement with the hope that the next expansion will give me enough impetus to look for similar minded players again.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do. I feel for you.

It's because there is very little left for me to do in EVE, being an 03 player I've basically "been there, done that" several times now and the only thing keeping me playing is my friends in this corp. As such, I would probably quickly find myself cancelling my subscription if I were to leave them.

I'm in a similar situation. Train a loooong skill if you don't feel like looking around right now (as I don't).
Good luck!

You've been playing the game for six years, and you've only made friends with people currently in your corp?
I'm sure that you must have at least a couple of friends (or even enemies) from way back when who would be happy to have you flying with them.

To clarify, some of the people in my current corp are IRL friends, I joined it just a couple months ago because of them. All the friends I've ever made in EVE itself have stopped playing and I have a reluctance to make new "EVE friends" because of it, people I know only on EVE aren't friends, they're acquaintances.
