Both pilots have same lvl skills on bc, gunnery, etc, which would win and why?

The Drake.
Seriously though, it's a but of a silly question. The best/luckiest pilot wins. tier 2 bc's are probably the best balanced set of ship in the game. Putting the 'irate' into 'Pirate' |

Is it an arranged 1v1? IMO: - Arranged 1v1 => Cane wins on 2 med neuts and a TD - Cane is Shield Buffer/Vagacane => Cane runs or dies - Cane is Rep fit => Cane dies because it can't tank the damage - Cane is plate fit + 2 Med Neut => Cane might win

This pretty much. The plate buffer vs harbinger fight kinda depends on the harby fit but vs another plate fit it should be a close one.

Quite right.
The last (and you don't need the med neuts, in fact they're more likely to hinder you then really help - making the reasonable assumption a plate Harbinger will fit a cap booster of some sort) really depends on the starting engagement range.
A Hurricane warping in close enough to get on top of the Harbinger before scrams kick in will most likely win; it has the option, being the faster ship, to use Hail M which renders the Harbinger at a disadvantage due to the damage types discrepancy.
It all really depends on the time the Hurricane needs to get to Hail M range.
I'd definitely say the Tier 2 BCs are one of the best balanced and most interesting ship classes in the game.

If the cane pilot is smart, cane wins. If the cane pilot is stupid, cane loses.
Doesn't matter how smart/stupid the harb pilot is, he doesn't get to dictate the terms of engagement.

I laughed mainly because he obviously doesn't PvP. 600 dps passive tank dude means you don't have a point, so it's purely a NPC ship. Not to mention the lack of speed mod.....

sort of this,
but a competent harbinger pilot aims to fight way into the hurricanes falloff which is also happily outside medium neut range. and i would fit my harbinger to counter a TD in a 1v1.
scorch is really all you need.

I think that all else equall a well fit cane will beat a well fit harb, but I still think the harb is of more use in unscripted pvp.

If you are talking about competent pilots.... i wonder how you plan on dictating range vs cane.

If the Harbi has ecm drones it can give a chance to break out but yeah aside from that if the Cane is on top of it it won't be shaken off. ________

in the world of hypotheticals my fights all start at 20km and i dictate range due to being out of scramble range. my hypothetical ec 600's might break me out even if i am caught. my hypothetical opponent might just forget to scramble me or neut me till he caps out and not I
hypothetically if i dictate range for about 30s or so before the cane catches me to scramble then it's already game over for the cane, if he is skilled more than me and can break away then gg.
hypothetically, if the fight starts in scramble range then yes, it's close i try to make sure it doesn't.
hypotehtically, trimarks are not the only rigs.
i still think generally the harbinger is better than the hurricane solo and it's much better in a gang. predicting anymore than that is pointless, as BC's are a pretty well balanced class.

Edited by: Kaileen Starsong on 23/09/2009 14:19:17 Besides fittings differentiates.. the one who will be warping in will most likely go boom(as the other guy can very well dictate at what range the fight will actually start + will have certain inertia to use for his own advantage).
That's excepting Hurricane warping at 0 by some miracle(or covops). Harb's pretty much dead then.
