Can someone help me with my understanding of Cargo Containers please.
If I fill my Bestower with 21 Large Standard Containers - I understand this will increase my cargo capacity (currently around 13900m3) by 2730m3 (21 x 130m3 increase) giving me around 16630m3
1. Can I drag a 16630m3 stack of ore into my cargo hold, or do I need to open my hold then select each individual container and drag a 780m3 stack of ore into each?
2. Can I place an item with a mass greater than 780m3 (the size of the Containers) into my hold eg a Frigate.
3. Assuming I can't do 2. Can I use Secure Containers the same way as Standard Containers in my hold (rather than use them deployed in space) - thus put 4 x Giant Secure Containers in my Bestower instead, each with a capacity of 3900m3, giving me an even bigger total capacity and the ability to carry Frigates.
4. With Secure containers, do I always need to use a password to access them or can I leave it blank and access them like Standard containers.
5. What is the purpose of the General Freight Container when it's Capacity is the same as it's volume (120000m3).
6. Can I access the Containers in my hold while in space - eg when looting.
7. Are Giant Secure Container anchored in space really secure (assuming you keep the password to yourself), or does the Hacking skill or something allow players to get inside?
8. Does shooting a Giant Secure Container in high sec get you Comcorded?
Thanks in advance.

1)each individually
2)no as the containers take that space already so you need to put stuff in the container(s)
3)Yes
4)can leave them blank and access them normally
5)getting indivual holding space in a freighter so you won't mix up alot of items in that huge cargo bay :) especially if you are hauling for different ppl at the same time.
6)yes
7)yes and no, getting the password right by guessing and it's open.. just like hackers irl try to get into your pc :) It is save till they crack your password so don't make it to obvious or by keeping it in your bio for safe keeping lol.
8)Yes unless in war

Appreciated.
I just would like to clarify and perhaps extend question 7 - I realise that there is risk associated with password security. But can a potential thief steal from it without manually (out of game) cracking the password? ie:
1. Does the in-game hacking skill circumvent the password - or a codebreaking module. 2. Can he 'snip' the anchoring cable and steal the whole (locked) container? 3. Will 50% (ish) of the contents survice if he suicide ganks it.

1) not to my knowledge but I wouldn't know this, maybe someone else can eloborate on this?
2) No, only the owner can unanchor any spaceobjects
3) No, like any other can in space, blowing it up means total destruction as far as I know ------- Always a deeply religious people, religion remains of great importance to every Amarrian, a fervour which at various times has been responsible both for great good and great evil. |

Will 50% (ish) of the contents survice if he suicide ganks it. Pretty much impossible to suicide gank a secure container. They got plenty of hitpoints. Edit: 8. Does shooting a Giant Secure Container in high sec get you Comcorded? Not only GSC, shooting any containers or wrecks that don't belong to you globally flags you.

Speaking of which, can anybody possibly even try to explain it to me the idiotic feature of the corporate hangar structure (POS) which prevents me from being able to open any, even the smallest, container located in the hangar? Each time I've got to load it on a ship and open onboard. Same with renaming. Any reason in particular can you think of? Are hangars supposed to be understood as such small structures where you only can put containers but the space inside the hangar is so little that you cannot even lift the lid, or put a new nametag on it?

You should use Giant Secure Containers. They are 3,000 m3 each and hold 3,900 m3. Fewer containers to open. An un-rigged Bestower holds 4.

Afair there is corp roles which determine if you can handle containers in certain Corp hangars.

It has nothing to do with roles. I'm a director. CCP just wants to annoy people. Just like how we can't repackage at a POS.

Correct me if I am wrong, but you can't put an assembled ship in a container? Or cargohold?
At least I had a problem, but maybe it was because I was trying to put a ship in my Iterion. |

One final question, if someone scans my hold, can they see what is inside the Secure Containers?

You can put assembled ships in containers or cargohold if they have room.
You can fit an assembled frigate into an Iteron V, but not anything bigger.

Tried that and failed.. said I had to repackage the ship... and I tried it with a damn shuttle in a Charon that should have fitted :) also other ships.. same problem either with the charon, badger mk2 or bestower for that matter.
Only way that I know off that works on getting an assembled ship in a cargobay is if you contract it then you can haul the "contracted container" but you will need a friend or alt to either do the contract or accept the contract as you cannot send it to your self. ------- Always a deeply religious people, religion remains of great importance to every Amarrian, a fervour which at various times has been responsible both for great good and great evil. |
