Hi
While watching some of the alliances fight, I saw something i didn't rly understand. Two BSs were flying side by side but one barely shot at all while the other sent out what looked like powerful volleys, however the other BS was using energy transfers to the sister ship. And when an ship got close it looked like both ships would open up with cap vampires on the same target.
Is It possible that the BSs were fit to fight as one? I think one may have acted as a large "battery" to the other energy hog so it didn't run out of cap in the fight.
Is there a way to make a ship use much more energy per shot to increase it's damage output but have a battery ship near by to charge it up so the first ship makes up for both or even more than the missing damage from the second ship?
Or was i looking at a different tactic on the screen? If you do know what it was please tell. |

It's a strange tactic, seeing as you need to get near an opponent to Neut and near your ally to Transfer, and you can't have both all too often.
A more common tactic is fitting a couple or more cap transferring marauders/4 weapon faction BS's to sustain self reps.

I think PL used this tactic last tournament, and they won the whole thing so eh.
Well is my idea even possible as a tactic though? I like the look of this one and will keep it in mind but i was thinking the two ships would move like a single ship, both ships need to be the same hull (they could be different but lets keep basic) so they move the same speed. Also the one in back may be on a very close range orbit or just use follow on the first ship.
Well your idea (im sure) has been proven to work very well, what if a ship the same size came over and killed off all you cap with heavy cap destables? You could not get energy back fast enough or would run out of cap boosters before your ship could be of any use again...

All tactics have their counters obviously, but a single neut BS will not break this tactic, considering you have about 3 BS's still transferring cap. Though it will certainly help. Tracking disruption is also a very good counter.

Your "tactic" sounds pretty common actually.
One ship is fit for DPS. He'd got big scary guns, and lots of weapon upgrades, with excess slots going to anything that might make fitting easier or keep things working more smooth.
The second ship is fit for Cap transfer and Remote Rep, with extra slots going to energy conservation and management so he can keep his buddy alive longer.
One ship pumps out damage, and the other works to keep them both alive. |
