Hey hey, obsidian here
Ok so testing out t3 with lots of the cool new stuff yadda yadda yadda, I was noticing some pve / pvp balance issues.
They need drones! testing out the configurations for both pvp and pve on the proteus, tengu and legion and I noticed that the proteus has an edge with being able to field 5 medium drones with various configurations. where as the tengu and legion only had 1 sub system that allowed the use for drones.
I think the t3's should allow at least 25 Mbits/sec in general via engineering systems so that way they can be used to take out tacklers, either npc or player frigs, or have some sort of def for frigs.

Web and no neut or drones? Easy fodder for frigs (well at least some of them).

well with the af boost coming they will be easy fodder for frigs.
as for the pve aspect, most art/rail/beam boats dont carry webs with them.

Yea all of the T3 ships should be able to field a flight of Light Drones at least.
This is coming from someone that uses a Legion

I would say minmatar, caldari & amarr should have all but the biggest DPS dealing offensive subsystems come with 25 m3 drone bay / 25mb bandwidth. And I would leave out drones all together on the offensive subsystem that gives the most damage dealing power. As for gallente, I think 2 subsystems (including the biggest damage dealing w/o drone dps included) should have 25m3 drone bay / 25mb bandwidth, 1 subsystem should have 50m3 / 50mb, and 1 subsystem should be a "drone boat" subsystem that allows something along the lines of 150m3 / 125m3 ( 1 flight of heavies or sentries and 1 flight of lights), with the bonuses obviously going to drone damage and such.

I believe CCP considers these three deaign choices the biggest mistakes they made with Eve, in order.

Drones
Invention is the attempt to fix the lottery, They can't do too much about the learning skills. Drones? They can continue to not provide support or improvements for them. Last patch they finally got a faction Omni Directional Tracking link. There is a host of drone rigs that are still missing. I could go on for a while with this. From the games perspective a drone is +1 player on the field. As such they can act as a lag multiplier. Making sure new content does not benefit form drones helps to slowly remove drones, as much as they can, fron the game.

So ... the Proteus can fit lots of drones, the Loki can fit some drones, and the Legion and Tengu can fit few to no drones.
How is this racial differentiation in T3 different from any other ship classes?
/me points to HACs and walks away

well i think in a general balance at least a 15-25 m drone bay but i guess the same should go for hacs. some sort of drone bay is needed.
I do like the idea of them being attached to the offensive systems.

I dunno, for a tech 3 cruiser, the Proteus can only field 100m3 band.
That's really not that much. And it's restrictive on how you can use drones.
I'm sad :(
