Hey all,
I'm relatively new to EVE compared to some of you, so I've come to ask for advice.
My friend, who has been playing a little longer than me, has a Myrmidon. We frequently joke about me taking my 2.5 mil Blackbird and kicking his 50 mil Myrmidon's ass.
He does not suspect that I actually want to do this.
So I've come to ask you wise forumites for suggestions on how to build my Blackbird to defeat him. My current strat is to equip a jammer so he can't target me, a smartbomb to get rid of his drones, and heavy missiles.
However, he claims that since he got 3 free armor repair rigs from a corp. mate, he can repair 1000 armor a click while still still nt draining his capacitor. If true, this might be a problem.
Any suggestions?
p.s. If I beat him, I'll post the video on youtube.

A properly fit myrmidon can probably tank a blackbird all day.

Virtually impossible.
Against bonused drones, smartbombs are little more than self-neuting modules. It'll take an immense amount of time and cap for two med smarties to chew through their hitpoints. If you've fitted smarties, then your DPS to kill him will be so bad that he can probably permatank you.
I'm struggling to think of anything that will work. You'll have to tank or kill his drones, while destroying his cap. ECM won't help you against his drones much.

Unless your friend has a really, REALLY bad fit, it is going to be near impossible for you to win that fight. Blackbird is an incredibly cost efficient and effective ship as part of a gang but it does not really have the ability to fit DPS and tank and jams effectively and all at the same time. At some point your friend is going to get a chance to target you, even if you jam him for a long period prior and once that happens you will have drones on you and you will die.

What others said:
Even if you jam him 99% of the time (EXTREMELY unlikely, but who knows... it's chanced based),
he will eventually get a few seconds to lock you and his drones will tear your ship into pieces faster
than you can kill his drones.
I'm sorry, but a Blackbird will not win 1v1 against a Myrm unless he's extremely dumb.
The Blackbird is probably one of the best Caldari ships, but it isn't made to be a solo ship.

Urgh. Theory - pin Myrm at 8 km with web and scrambler, stay out of turret optimal. Hope he's using thermal or explo drones and hope that you can tank them and turret DPS. If he has neuts then you're dead. Well, you're probably dead anyway. And even if you aren't than the max 225 DPS won't break his tank in a hurry.
If you can find out his fit by ship-scanning him (or asking him I suppose) then we might be able to make something up. If he always uses thermal drones, that would be really useful to know.

I'd fit something along the lines of,

You'd have to get within 9k from the start, lock and jam him before he gets his pesky drones out. If he gets his drones on you no tank will save you so I forfeited it entirely.
With the 120+ DPS explosive damage and the neut he should go down eventually, question is if you can keep him jammed for that long.
A small chance of success I'd say but could def. work.

Thanks for all the great advice guys... looks like taking out my friend with Blackbird might be a hopeless endeavor 
Is there a possibility I could take him on with another properly fitted Caldari tech 1 cruiser, ike a Caracel or Moa?

Unlikely to impossible, the myrm is a battlecruiser, and those generally are designed to eat cruisers alive.

Just let me know the day, time, and system and I will neutral rep you in my basi. Dont even worry about jammers just fit a scram, shield buffer, neut and as much gank a BB can put out. I will take care of the rest. Have a nice day.

If its a properly fit Myrmidon, none of the Caldari T1 cruisers really stand much of a chance against it. A blaster moa will get out-ganked and out tanked, and a HML Caracal will get eaten alive by drones well before it can even think about breaking the Myrms tank.
Battlecruisers are an incredibly effective shipclass. Any Tier 2 BC will generally eat a T1 or T2 cruiser for breakfest. There are exceptions here, but not in the Caldari line. Your really looking for a ship like the Pilgrim, which has a shot at beating the Myrmidon at the drone game and can kill the tank. Emphasis on a shot though, I wouldn't take on a Myrmidon in a Pilgrim if there was an older pilot in it.
What it boils down to basically, is that the myrmidon has a great tank. It has all number of ways to play with fitting, and its primary damage source is difficult to destroy and immune to EW. It has every advantage but speed, and no T1 cruiser has the speed to kite Valks (even if it did, light drones would eat a stabber alive - the only T1 cruiser that can think of breaking 3.2kms)
No, theres no hope of you beating him in a fair 1v1 unless your friend is mentally ******ed. Hell, even then, a flight of myrm drones would probably kill a T1 caldari cruiser before you kill whatever lolfit he has on.

Well, if its in a duel you might use a Caracal outside his Drone range and/or use damps to have a little more safety on the locking.
But he can warp off when he get bored, and so can you too really...
in a serious 1on1 no cruiser really got a chance against a myrm, but who solo in a myrm anyway?
