First off, I would like to thank everyone that attended. The FanFest went better than we expected and looks like it is something that will be repeated in the future.
As for what happened, there were a number of presentations by members of the Dev team covering the past, present and future of EVE. EVE has come a long way since the words "Let's make a computer game" were said in a living room a few years ago. The "WOW!" factor peaked twice, the first when the trailer for EVE Online Exodus (formerly Shiva) was shown. The second was when LeKjart ran a Kali cluster on his laptop and demonstrated atmospheric flight.
The evening ended with the premiere of Quafe and the crowning of the Quafe Queen. I apologize for not having the name of the winner handy, my recollection of events from last night got a little hazy after Oveur passed me a rather strong glass of Quafe Ultra. I'll get the information and post it, or get one of the Devs to post it.
The Exodus trailer will be available online in the very near future.
As I said before, I want to thank all the players that attended the FanFest and I'm looking forward to FanFest 2005.

It was a shameless trick of Quafe to try to influence CONCORD representatives to ignore the electorial shennigans going on in Gallente Space.
Booze and Broads indeed.
{Glad it was a success. I hope to attend such future events as I may.)
CONCORD should issue an apology to all the citizens of strong moral fiber and firmly establised family values that had to witness this torrid display of wanton political chicanery.
Remember, Don't let them steal the Vote!

Well, I'm off to find a place for that signed Quafe bottle (that's usually not so me to hunt for autograms, but heck, that stuff was tasty and it seems that it affected me nevertheless in an odd way, but now that I got it... what else to do with that one :P)

Was a fantastic weekend, Kieron, thanks to you and everyone who helped make it what it was.
The Quafe Ultra was indeed a rather superb drink.
The Kali preview almost had me wetting my pants, and the Exodus Trailer *did* make me wet my pants.
Again, congratulations, and I look forward to next years fest.
It was great meeting all you guys, even if a few of you were so Quafed that you could barely string a sentence together :) .

Quafe and Vodka was the drink of the night, and it went unbelievably well. so well in fact, that by the end of the night I had trouble walking. (especially when trying to give a dev a piggyback around the bar). I won't go any further than that right now though.
I have a few pictures, and I'll post them up tomorrow or tuesday. .

Dr. Kjartan (can't remember his eve-nick) showed us a Kali client he was running on the laptop.
This included planetary flight. I think the video will be released at a later date.

Ive suggested several times that warping had to go 'around planets and structures' still in a straight line, so sometimes it would take more than one jump to go from A to B

I thought it was somewhere around the 350 mark.
Some dude flew in from Korea. For his effort, he was given a box of eve goodies, including a signed stargate poster (lucky bugger), so that was cool. The guy looked shocked, tbh. Respect.
The kali preview was stunning. Also, seeing the speed that LeKjart could type in his OMGH4X on the console was a sight to behold.
Myself and RinnyWee from Eve-radio managed to interview quite a few people. I will shortly be putting together a show based on the events of this past weekend, although with some parts edited a little bit, and some basically just ripped out (right, Kieron? ). I have some pics as well, which I will spend some time naming tonight, or tomorrow, and posting up the the eve-radio forum/website. (The couple of pics of Kali didn't some out too well, so you'll have to accept my apologies for those.)

I'll try to answer a bunch of posts at once here.
Lufio, I do stand corrected. I had more than 1 drink on Saturday, I do have to admit the Quafe/Bombay concoction was an excellent choice and packed *quite* the punch.
Kurg, Hakera and all those with questions regarding the Kali demo: LeKjart had his laptop with him and during his presentation, he fired a demonstration cluster on it running Kali. I'm not sure if he had fraps running on it (I don't think he did), but there were a few video cameras in the audience. There might be videos available in the future. Featured during the presentation was LeKjart flying a ship (can't remember what it was ATM) in the atmosphere of a desert planet, spawning some rats, shooting some missiles at them, then warping to an ice planet. I'm sure ships won't go splat when warping "through" planets.
Tuwile, there were approx. 275 people that attended. Of those, there were roughly 125 Icelanders and 150 from overseas. Yes, the player that came the furthest was from Korea and he walked away with some nice swag (T-shirt, keychain, cd and poster signed by most of CCP). I hope he was able to exchange the shirt for something that fit properly (I gave him an XXL) and keychain that he wanted. If not, I hope he gets in contact with me for an exchange.
Daddy, I'd like to preview the interviews, but we did give them freely. Just get in contact with me SoonÖ.
Once again, I would like to thank *everyone* that attended. It was an amazing weekend!

this really was an awsome weekend! congrats to all of ccp for such a good time. i'm back in england now and i'm still suffering slightly from what ever it was that hellmar handed me..
i think the 'most drunk' award has to go to oveur for a superb display of slurring and staggering. i think kieron was acting as stabilizers for you by 3am.. mind you - i wasn't much better.

Just got home and rolled on over to the computer to post a huge thank you to CCP for organising this amazing event. Not only for all the assistance given to EVE Radio and the interviews we got (and yes, kie, I think sending you preview may be the best idea) but also as a long-term fan of the game, it really was moving to see how far it's come.
Congratulations on a successful event and I can't wait for more.
Oh and Gotchy, kieron never "pwned" me, it's all an optical illusion. kthx. ____ ♥ Wrangler & Valar fight over me! ♥ |

It actually was surprisingly nerd-free... well, ok, a small amount of them anyway. I had a blast. It's always fun to meet folks who are closet geeks but still cool people outside of a game... and I'm sure Eve players injected quite a fair amount of cash into the local economy... Oveur, you guys should demand a medal from the government for your efforts!

It was Great! QDF force's camped the bar for the whole weekend under our mad leader De-Bug, who managed to hump everyones leg and swear to everyone!
He also swore 5 times for some interview on french tv or something de-bug quote " I log on and kill ****". I ofc gave the serious interview and therefore missed the whole raffle..mutters..damn interviewers, I could have won a new Graphics Card
We found a poor CFS guy who got tormented for the whole weekend, all in good fun.
On other news Zelota from CA turned up with a CA sign at the bar ( later Destroyed by miss mayhem ) also from now on zelota shall be known as NODDY!
All in all fantastic, some of us are looking at a return visit next year for a week to take the sites in, hopefully there will be another but it has to be in Iceland.
Great to meet alot of peeps, made alot of new friends had a great singsong with some of the devs..all in all great.
And to Monty Burns, it did not work out in the end mate i ended up having to stay in london as they cancelled my flight at last min on the sunday night.

Edited by: Felona on 26/10/2004 03:30:27 Eve Fest was fantastic!
I couldn't get over the amount of people there and the average age-group being in the thirties like myself. Was also nice to be with so many like-minded people in one city together.
A big thankyou to the local Icelanders: 4Life, PaintBall, Malacious, and Calvert for taking us to some of the hot spots in the city for the better clubbing and good cheap food.
I look forward to the next event. Hopefully it will last longer, the packaged event was way too short.
