Ok so. I got this program I got to build for school and I am running really behind on work. I've already spent 3 hours trying to build it and I am getting nowhere. VB is VERY hard to learn is what I have found out so far. I'll give someone 100m to write this program for me and send the code to me.
A fast-food vendor sells pizza slices ($1.75), fries ($2.00), and soft drinks ($1.25). Write a program to compute a customerĘs bill. The program should request the quantity of each item ordered in a Sub procedure, calculate the total cost with a Function procedure, and use a Sub procedure to display an itemized bill. A sample output is shown below.

No. It really isn't.
Also, I hate to point this out, but you're not going to get any better at VB by getting other people to do your work for you.

Yeah Im not even sure what that means. Sorry, um. I dont know if I would be able to understand it enough to translate the code to VB.. I dont know java...

Its your call guys, if you want 100m, then do it. If you dont want to do it or don't know how to do it, then dont bother telling me that "cheating on this visual basic question for scool is wrong blah blah blah" because I dont care. Sorry to be so blunt but im just sayin...

Sorry to be so blunt, but you're going to fail. Seriously, the reason two people have suggested you do it yourself is because that's how you learn. If you don't do this, then you won't be able to do the next program, and the next, etc. Have fun.

Edited by: Blane Xero on 27/09/2009 00:10:08 Its a bit of a bind. Most people who took the time to learn Programming have a great Urk for those who take the quick road. Thus you won't get help from 9/10 "Programmers" and the tenth did what you are doing and doesn't know how its done. _____________________________________ Haruhiist since December 2008

I understand what your saying but I am not trying to be a programmer. I just have this class required for my degree. My major is web design not programming. So im just trying to get past this bump in the road.

Write a program to estimate how much a young worker will make before retiring at age 65. Request the worker's name, age, and starting salary as input. Assume the worker receives a 5 percent raise each year. For example, if the user enters Helen, 25, and 20000, then the text box should display the following: Helen will earn about $2, 415, 995
Here is another one I need done. Ill pay out 100m for this one as well, I prefer you post the answer here.

This is such a simple program to make in VB.net, you could literally bash it together in a matter of two or three minutes.
I realise that you're only doing this out of necessity and not a desire to learn the subject but a basic knowledge of VB (Maligned as it is) can only help you in the future.
Check this out to see if you can pick anything up from it really quickly, I can't say as I read over it thoroughly just now but with a quick glance it seems more than adequate to explain what you need to know for this project.
Were your task more complex then I would be perfectly willing to knock up an example and guide you through it but with this being so simple I think that it's important for you to learn how to do it. Not trying to preach or anything, I just feel that it can only be beneficial to you to learn the basics.

Yeah I definately understand what you mean but for some reason this stuff is like a different language to me. I have been in this VB.NET class for 9 weeks now and NOTHING has sank in for me AT ALL!! I really have been trying. When it comes to building a website using HTML, I know almost everything but this stuff here is not for me.

What the hell, here I am struggling to teach myself programming and you people have CLASSES in HIGHSCHOOL or below (I'm assuming because this is VB) available????
Damn you, Governator Schwarzenegger and your chopping up of school funding so we can't even be given ONE PROGRAMMING CLASS!!!!

I dont use Microsoft-only languages because I like my programs to be able to run on all computers (Mac, Linux, Windows and others).
But I once did, and yes, Visual Basic is actually a easy language to learn compared to many others. It may take some time for things to sink in though, so just be patient.
Building a web site is very different to writing a desktop program. Im on the other side on the fence. Im good at programming applications, but have only just started with doing web applications and I find it to be quite a lot to learn (html + css + javascript + ajax + server side language). But im making progress. Having applications on the web is the future since you remove the need for a specific operating system. Anybody with a browser can use it. I love that. Users get freedom and great accessibility.

seeing as you haven't replied to in game messages...
I have the solution to the first question - here's the code . you'll obviously need to create your own form with the right elements on it with the correct IDs, then wire up the 2 events.
Or if you contact me in game I can send a complete visual studio solution with the form too.

Is it going to work with this form? This is a sample form that my prof. provided for me where the listbox displays the whole receipt.

it displays the receipt in a multiline text box "txtBill". make sure txtBill has vertical scrollbars too. as per the note on codepaste: You'll till need to create the form with the following elements on it txtPizza txtDrink txtFries txtBill lblError bCalculate
and wire the txtBill Change event, and the bCalculate event to the right places.
also make sure txtBill is multiline - it looks like the picture in your original post, you didnt specify that it had to be a list box...
