currently, we have a buddy list. when your buddies log on, you see it in the corner, its a useful system.
but, many of the people on my buddies list right now are not, infact, buddies of mine. they are enemies, and ones i would like to keep an eye on.
i propose we make a specific "enemies" list. your enemies can have a purple dot next to their name when online, rather then a green one.
other then that, it acts exactly like the friends list. the Luminare titan: lets pop that *****! http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1175042&page=1 |

The "buddy" list is an incredibly over powered intel tool and the ability to add someone without them even knowing about it let alone giving permission should be removed.
There we go, fixed your problem.

I have to agree, when I lived in high sec and had a war dec we would find as many players from the enemy corp and make a special folder in the buddies section so we could see who was online... a very powerful intel tool when you think about it, knowing the extent of enemy presence without them knowing... its like having a spy in their corp hq lol.

Edited by: Ashley Thomas on 27/09/2009 16:37:23 Buddy list should be a mutual thing, as for knowing when your enemies are on, how about adding that as an option for locator agents. "So and so is located in J184242, but is currently appears to be inactive, for an extra XXX isk I'll contact you when he is."

If eve was RL and people were online 24/7, then I'd agree. However, people do other things than play eve and are therefore sometimes offline. Those of us who have limited time to play really don't want to login and then waste 30 minutes just to see if there's someone online so we can actually play the game (or not play the game depending on who's hunting who).

Edited by: Mire Stoude on 27/09/2009 17:43:47 'buddies list' is just shorter than 'list of people who I may or may not be friendly with but I none-the-less wish to know when they log in'
