My main is part of a corporation that hands out corp insured ships. The idea being you never have to buy another one, as you always get a free replacement.
Now to the problem.
In the heat of battle when losing a ship, we often run back to the station to get a replacement. Having someone give you another insured ship, whilst the battle rages, is not a good idea, but it would be good to have a spare already waiting and fitted. As insurance only last 12 weeks, sometimes it can laps before you even fly the spare. Not good.
So here's my idea.
When ships are insured by a director or CEO of a corporation, the ship is wrapped ready for use, but the insurance only starts after you unwrap it. You can corp insure fitted ships, giving the same results, allowing spare insured ships to be in your hanger for future use.
Now this could also apply to privately insured ships also I guess, can't see why not.
What do you think?

CCP needs to find a way to introduce a game mechanic that allows Corporations to provide legit ship insurance that is more beneficial than buying NPC insurance. Nerf NPC insurance as it is now and provide Player Corporations a way to sell/payout insurance for T1 AND T2 ships.

I'm not sure how you could get that to work tbh.
Tech 2 insurance is not an easy situation to solve, due to market fluctuations. All I'm asking for here, is an easy solution to having spare corp insured ships in your hanger. If they could find a solution to Tech 2 insurance at the same time, then sure, but don't hold your breath.
