I don't know if anyone has proposed this already but i try to illustrate what i thought.
Actually when we dock in station we don't see anything but our ship, the platform we're flying over and some little far away things that move in the background.
We open the fitting service and even if we change the modules (turrets, hardeners and so on....) nothing change. We get the modules fit in no time and there is no animation.
What about that when we change a module from our ship a kind of robotic arm comes out from the platform and "really" operate on our ship... something like take out the turret, fix the new one on the armor and so on (to give you the idea look at this... i mean that the station while we are docked could be a kind of "wardrobe room".
What do you think :) ?

Neat idea, but given 100+ different ship models it needs to work on, without (extreme) clipping, it's a big job for the art department. And if they're going to tackle big jobs, things like visible launchers, utility modules and more detailed damage modules rate higher on my scale.

I would probably be nice and all... :) ... but...
I think it would quickly get deactivated... who wants to wait for an animation each time he/she fits a new module to his ship?
Also, there are other things that I would rather see CCP use resources on, as this doesn't really contribute to the gameplay.

The title of this thread is just ...
I'd like to see little figures running around, fueling, moving cargo in and out, loading the weapons, washing the windows, etc. Would add some life to the scene. At least in Amarr stations the hover taxies are zipping around.

Edited by: XIII''th on 01/10/2009 11:28:34 Edited by: XIII''th on 01/10/2009 11:26:41 It sound fun at first moment, but would be really annoying. Imagine situation, when you lot your ship and try to get new one and return to battlefield, you have ship in station, but you need to refit it from short range to long range, you are needed ASAP but you must wait till all those turrets are removed and then new fitted... every second counts, but you stuck in station looking at robot arms, cursing person whos idea it was :) But having more animations around ship in station would be nice, some ships flying in backgroung, hover taxis and such, i'm all for it.

don't get me wrong :) i didn't mean it should take more time. The animation will start when you'll ask to the fitting service to mount the new modules but the time the modules will be there won't change.
And the animation itself shouldn't last that long (dunno... 5/6 seconds... a mechanical arm goes up, fix the turrets to the armor, a few sparkles come out, then the arm goes down and vanish again) otherwise it would become quite boring.
Just eye candies ^^
