Which race would be best to start off pvping with in something like R-v-B. I want to set up an alt for pvping and so don't want to waste SP rolling for special ships.
I would imagine in the old days, I would have been aiming for either Amarr or Minnie?

Well possibly the easiest Frigate to PVP in is the Rifter. So to get some starting skills in that choose Minmatar. But that race does need a lot of training to go further so you may then want to cross train. There is no penalty doing that. You starting skills are low in any event, maybe an hour or twos training, as the system has changed so you can go for the race you like the look of with little downside at all. There are no wasted SP's whatever you choose really.

Thanks for the response, Guess the opening salvo's of pvp are the same as they ever where...Rifter ftw.
Absolutely determined to get "involved" with Eve this time round instead of carebearing round Empire.
odd it jumped to a character in the biomass queue...oh well

There's a ton of Rifters in RvB. And there's a reason for that, they are just that good ships. And you can easily swap to a Rupture which will do great in the cruiser warfare. I can heartily recommend Minmatar - I miss my main in all fights. 
Amarr would work out too, but Punisher is simply not as fun to fly (IMO). The Arbitrator could be extremely handy with all the Ruptures and Thoraxes around. Load up a full rack of TDs and a massive passive tank and you'd be a major pain for all the Cruiser pilots.

I'm a returner as well and decided the same thing. I'm in RvB and I highly recommend it for a new player. I wish there was something like that when I started a few months ago as FW did not really do it for me.
