So, im looking into PVP, and whilst skilling for my Vigilant im using a Thorax, and was wondering if this fit is good, it will also sometimes be paired with a Jaguar, Wolf or Stabber.

uhh 1600mm and a MAR with neutrons ? Last time I check, its impossible, not enough PG for all that. Unless you got implants for that pg (+5%). But except for that, yeah, good solo ship but since you fly with other people, fit accordingly with your fleet in your case.

When I started the game, I was using a Thorax very close to yours. I lost about 10 of those before I got my first kill, under 2M SP.
Now I realize that if you want to fit a ship that way, the Vexor is MUCH better. Basically, you're putting a Vexor fit on a Thorax, not taking advantage of its bonus.
A Thorax NEEDS medium guns, at least 1 or 2 magnetic field stabilizers and a buffer tank (no rep). It is a tricky ship to fly and is usually not a good ship to use if you can't deal an incredible amount of damage in low time. The Vexor is one of the best solo cruisers, while the Thorax is probably the best small gang/fleet cruiser.

Someone here has never flown my patented dual rep thorax fit....

That's the Vexor fit on a thorax I used too much. Seriously, when I realized it and decided to go for the Vexor, it just was a better ship for the job.

bait that thorax.
Put on an 800 plate along with your 1600, and three trimarks.
15000 armour, 300dps with the small guns & drones.
For even more headaches, remove drones and replace with ecm drones.
Makes a great bait ship.

Edited by: Duchess Starbuckington on 01/10/2009 16:25:10 Get a Vexor. Light neutrons on a Thorax completely defeats the point of flying that ship.
Also inb4 Merin flaming you into the ground.

Small Blasters on a Thorax is Utter FAIL. Use a Vexor if you want to fit small blasters on a crusier, its a much better ship for the job. --- I am taking pre orders for Navy Armageddons |

The Thorax fit isnt for true PVP, its to lure the others into a trap, or to engage unwary foes whilst i bring in a true gank ship, or a solo PVP ship.
But i am unsure of what Cruisers in the Minny arsenal lend themselves to be good PVP'ers. I would also like a fit that I listed, but on a minny ship, with AC's.

Great for small gang fights. My ions thorax does 641 dps on level 5 skills, 543 on a much more realistic null setup and this one does 467 dps within a 20km sphere (14 + 13) and hits out to 50km with spike for 170+ dps.
