Right now I'm attempting to play eve on my old desktop PC, I'm using
Pentium 4 3.4Ghz CPU Saphire Atlantis 9600 256mb agp video card x2 512 Mushkin 3200 ram x2 512 Corsair (no idea what speed.) ram =2Gb ram total Abit As8 motherboard
And I can only play on the lowest settings, if I bump the settings up my PC will crash after an hour or two becaus of low virtual memory, I went into the bios and played with the agp apeture and It runs better now but I still keep it on the lowest settings. My pc is pretty old and I was wondering what specs I would need to make EVE really shine. I'm looking at building up a new PC in the near future unless I can put a little more life into my current pc for the time being. I'm on a budget and I don't want to build some monster pc, but something that can handle EVE well. I don't know all that much about Computer stuff and I am just kinda learning as I go along.
Thanks again for all your help, Fly Safe

Ok.
DDR PC-3200 RAM. Well this is unupgradable seeing its the highest you can get for that module. It's also a pretty dated technology. You have to get a new motherboard to upgrade that.
AGP video card. Assuming your power supply isn't a cheap one, try buying a 4650 Radeon AGP card. This is the most powerful AGP card available and is a very nice model regardless.
The Pentium 4 3.2GHz is a perfectly fine CPU, try turning off more background applications to really get the most out of the high clock speed.
Just getting teh Graphics card 4650 will certianly allow you to play on much higher settings.
Ensure your pagefile is 1.5x-2.5x your current RAM, that being between 3GB to 4GB. This must be turned on otherwise you will run out of memory. ------------------------------------- Don't click the links or even the forum topics. |

Page File on Vista/Win7. Control Panel -> System -> Advanced System Settings -> Performance Settings -> Advanced Tab -> Change Virtual memory -> Select C, custom size 3076 min 4096 max.
System Requirements for EVE are perfectly up to date.
For new memory you need a Motherboard that either supports DDR2 or DDR3 RAM.
The Radeon 4650 AGP is AGP, it won't get very hot or use that much power. ------------------------------------- Don't click the links or even the forum topics. |

A High-end of mid costs computers should be quite easily able to run atleast 1 client (and probably easily 2 clients) in full graphics, my (new) computer cost me around $1700 AU (more like $1350 AU excluding the monitor, box and keyboard + mouse) and it runs like a breeze with 2 accounts.
Id recomend also having a look at the PC User (and possibly gaming, which may have recomended for top quality) magazines. most months they have a few pages dedicated to gaming computers of different level costs and using Crysis (atleast in the Australian PC User), compare the FPS (Frames per second, online this can be slightly affected by datastreaming, but its extremely insignificant) and a couple of other modules.
The average theoretrical lifespan of a computer is recomended to be at most, 4-5 years. By then, new developments have become more readily avaliable, and cheaper, so High range equipment becomes mid range ect.
