"I think they should not bother with turrets anymore, just code it so that anyone with a negative security status will immediately self destruct his ship and his escape pod the very instant he/she attemps to activate any module"
Yes I agree, best Idea I have heard yet from a m0o ass.

Well said, Axelay.
The current distribution of security rating for the systems "does" seem a bit haphazard to me, also. Thus the bottlenecks you and the others have been able to take advantage of so viciously.
My own attempt at logic would dictate a more spherical expansion for the core systems from 1.0 to 0.0, with some space between the empires.
At present, they sort of overlap, with only a few routes between them, even those that at one time were allegedly at war with each other. When I first began to play I expected to see strips of "no man's land" between the Empires.
I love the idea of a 0.0 pirate spawn system similar to warcraft/starcraft style AI tech tree climbing. The main thing I would worry about is how many resources would the server need to do this? As it stands now, if players aren't in a "zone", all server activity idles. Hmmm.
It's nice to see a relatively troll/flame free thread on this topic. However, it's not what I'm used to seeing, so all this intelligent activity must stop at once!

Thank god a thread with some sanity to it. I love these ideas.
I think being able to gain faction with these NPC pirates is a must. It would provide a vehicle to introduce content for player who choose the pirate profession.
*edit*
NPC pirates could give out missions to intercept shipments of goods that other players have accepted as missions from other NPC's.

well, Axelay, just my 2 cents:
- don't use the containers for creating lag - CCP: make it impossible to sit within the 11km jump radius of the gate (but possible to camp close by)
My idea for the second point would be introducing a "random port" radius around each gate (like 15 km) where you might get ported even without clicking on the jump button.
Then the game is fine since pirates can still camp a gate and player corps have a decent chance to win a fight.

This is not about gate camping. This is also not about accusing m0o of using containers to lag people. There are hundreds of threads to choose from if you wish to discuss those topics.
Please refrain from changing the topic of this thread. There are many people who like the ideas presented and to see it degenerate into yet another 'm0o is ebil' thread would be a shame. _____ m0o

Axelay, what you do not get is: As long as you guys sit in a bunch of containers, apparently placed by someone, also within the jump range of the gate, there is absolutely no point in trying to attack you, since one a) looses several ships to lag and b) the bad guys escape with ease.
Not a single of your ideas adresses that problem. Gate-Camping is ok. But people need a chance to either escape or fight back. And that is not the case currently. It should even not be too hard to get away if you see a great fleet hunting you.

Yo, Grumpf. Pay attention. There's plenty of other threads for m0o-bashing. THIS IS NOT ONE OF THEM. Take it elsewhere.
I don't approve of how m0o operates -- that's irrelevant here. I'm all for ANYBODY coming up with ideas changing the system for the better.

Grumpf: Please STFU and flame m0o on another thread - we're discussing something else here...
But yes, there need to be more challenges in this game - When you've killed 50k bounty pirates, you've seen it all - it's hard to find more than two of them at one time, so what's next to do. NPC pirate bases you could crush might be a good option, for as things are right now, PC battle is boring - to much lag and too little fun - and it's over far too soon.
