I am training this character to be a market character and I wanted you market gurus opinion on this character. Im going to train him up in all the new trade skills along with hauling and refining skills. Then i plan to buy ore for low prices, refine it, then sell it for a good price as minerals. My questions are is this a good strategy, will it net me more isk the just buying and selling minerals for profit, and how do i lower my waste with a station to get good refines. Thanks

I do not know about the viablilty of your plan to buy ore and refine to make a profit, but I can tell you that increasing your faction standing with the corporation that owns the station will cut down on the percentage that they take as a refining tax.
The way to do this is to run missions for that corporations agents.
Also, I am assuming that you have refining 5 and refinery efficency 5. Honor to you! |

I think there will be a slightly different career option when shiva/exodus comes. I'm a character that is getting specialized in production. I have not trained any of the market skills, so in a few weeks time, I'm going to have a problem selling the stuff I make. That's where a specialized market character comes in. I could sell you my stuff, obviously for less than what I'm asking for it now, you can resell it at a higher price, taking advantage of your better market skills (visibility to name just one). Think of it as me being the wholeseller, you being the retail seller.
Same goes for the minerals I need, except that I'll be on the buying end of the line, in stead of the selling end. It'll take some time for prices to adjust to this, I'm expecting mineral prices to go up for me, and the stuff I make will make me less. Once this ballances out, the trade profession will finaly become a viable option.
As long as mineral prices don't amount to more than what I can ask for produced items ofcourse...
