I've gone without a mouspad for my optic mouse for quite some time, the old one was doing nothing. I finally bought a new one and are experiencing some major tremors when moving the cursor across the screen. Is it me having developed this sickness over time or should I dissect my mouse??

Optical mice can have big problems with some surfaces. Shiny is not good, I think. At least I have been getting problems since some parts of my pad have been worn out and gone shiny.

This makes me sound really cheap

i have this problem sometimes - it's caused by cat hairs getting in the little optical recess bit |

I had all sorts of similar problems with microsoft optical mice. I found on there web site somewhere that they recomend using a black mousemat. I didnt realy find this made alot of difference so i changed brand.i now have a logitec mx510 and can't recommend it highly enough. Its far more accurate and smooth in operation, and it seems to work on any surface.
The only drawback is ther is not application specific button allocation, but i feel the better operation is easily worth it

you got a hair or a piece of fluff riding on your mouse, throwing off the laser? thats what happens to me when my mouse is jerky.
