gas harvesting is a rank 1 skill, takes about a week to train to lvl 5 and allow you to use 5 T2 harvesters
on a more related note, how does not having the skills prevent you from theorycrafting projected m3 yield per hour and thus your potential isk/hr?

If your gonna train for it Train to V (T2's are the greatest and you can fit 5 with lvl 5 if your ship can handle it.) In WH Space the Gas sells well too)

Personally, I made 10M last week by leaving my mammy sucking up gas for 2h in a WH with its one harvester while I was doing calc homework (it filled up ~5% of the hold in that time) and then selling it for 3/4 of the lowest sell order in the local trade hub. So, yes, it can be fairly profitable, but it takes a long time and is only good on certain gasses (the highsec ones are usually 10m3 and ~3k, this was 1m3 and 10k, so it was 30x as much ISK).
The thing that kills the market for the stuff is that it's only used in booster production, which no one uses so no one makes, or T3 production, which hardly anyone can do. So, you can get lucky sometimes, but often I find it easier to just mine instead (though bear in mind that we're a fairly small corp and only started WHing last week).
