I've just installed this Windows XP service pack 2, and now Eve doesn't play anymore. Is this a know issue?
Before the installation I didn't had any Eve problems. Now I'm opening Eve, see this little screen with stars just before login, at this moment you should see the login screen, but this little screen gets black, and just a moment later the whole screen gets black. My LCD (Philips 170C) Monitor then goes into sleep mode... I still hear the music, and my computer is still running. Moving the mouse or Ctrl Alt Del doesn't work, so I have to reset my computer... With no Eve :( I have no firewall ect, and even did re-install Eve (and downloaded the last game version ), but nothing seems to work. Also my second account doesn't work, and also with the Shiva test version I have the same problem.
Anyone knows how to make Eve work again?

it probably is because SP2 includes direct x 9.0c. i think some people have had issues with this. try rolling back to direct x 9.0b. i run 9.0c with no problems (i'm not even having problems with the latest nvidia drivers anymore... !?! knock wood!). but depending on your card, etc, it's probably direct x.

Reinstall your GFX driver, remember to delete everything from the driver before installing a new one. This might solve your problem. Also remember to clean your gamedir/Eve cache when your having problems with Eve, many problems can be solved in this way.

Originally by: Fic Thieve My LCD (Philips 170C) Monitor then goes into sleep mode...
If you're running the game in a different screen resolution or color depth than your normal windows desktop uses, it might be that the previously saved refresh rate got messed up during SP2 installation, which causes the LCD to shut down (since it can only work with 60 or 75 Hz).

WOW they really need a search engine
ITS SP2 & ATi that are causing problems.
There is a multi page thread on this in this forum and the fix is
Run EVE in Win98 compatability mode & it fixes all the problems.
Right click the eve icon, choose properties, choose compatability, put tick in compatability box & select Win98/Me, click ok & play eve
