I'm currently in Shanghai on business, and I've just read that on Saturday, China banned foreign investment in the Online games market.

I was wondering if this is going to effect CCP? Is this going to affect the Eve Online China server?

The China server isnt run by CCP, but it is licensed under CCP basically the thing is all communist so i cant see the problem there. Like all 0.0 is controlled by 1 major alliance and all corps have 100 % tax rate = communist.

Didnt read this article, but i assume it is the same as what few days ago was the case. It really looks from that it isnt allowed to do what CCP does now, however it is the question how accurate it was and if china will really enforce it.

Here's the relevant bit from the article:
"The notice also says that foreign game companies will be prohibited from investing in China-based online game operators as sole owners, joint venture partners or cooperative partners. They won't be allowed to control, or be involved, in domestic gaming operations through joint networks for user registration, account supervision or game card systems."

No, China. Globalisation won't let you. ------

Yes. But they are acting like a mercantilist state. They want to trade in other markets, buy foreign property and companies, but its limited for foreign investors to do the same in China.
Sucks to be Blizzard. Yes - asian mmo market is bigger then US and EU (not combined), so the tasty $$$ are gone now.
I've read mixed info about the law, so can't be sure of the status when for example CCP owns shanghai studio (dust 514).
