Anyone killed and Obelisk? How long before one is killed? With how many pilots?
I fly one, in high sec of course, and was wondering if it is safe to fly it AFK overnight loaded. Miner |

If you AP a pile of bricks like that overnight, you probably are not going to get very far...
As for the risk factor, it depends on what you have loaded, as most gankers would scan you before considering a you target. My advice to you is that if you are going to do this, do NOT carry anything expensive! _______________________________________________

There are two ways to get ganked in high sec:
1) really **** off a lot of people
2) Carry an expensive load. It takes about 10-20 battleships to kill a freighter in high sec, so unless you are carrying 2-3 billion, its unlikely that you will get ganked.

I think I've only popped one obelisk, we were flying with BoB at the time and it was in low sec, not entirely a fair representation of survivability..
You could probably get away with it, though put a whole lot of crap in it for such journeyes. E.g. use large quantity items (ammo etc), that are worthless to the suicder unless they have a freighter alt to make profit from the quantity (though it would still take ages to earn them much). Wouldn't Concord defend the Obelisk and dispose of the 10-20 BS in a zzzap!?

yes they would, but the freighter would pop before all the bs's die.

IŠve been searching in several killboards and no freighters seem to be killed.
So one of my initial questions stands, how long before the Obelisk (freighter) pops?

20 battleships can alpha or 2x alpha and pop a freighter. if there is a gang setup prepared to kill an AFK freighter and they find one that is carrying enough to replace 50-100m in ships, then you will lose your freighter.

Why not just put everything in Freighter containers, When they scan you , all they will see is containers... They will never know the value of your load.. Might make them think twice about ganking you. But I personally would not AFK a freighter in high sector.

Probably because you can see in containers on a ship scan. The only thing you cannot scan is corp hangars in orcas / carriers etc.

So the conclusion is Concord has no firepower to defend from gankers if them are above twenty and have BS...

I do not fly AFK, never again, after I lost an Ity cargoload last year sometime, but was curious about Concord having time to zphook everyone in time. I noticed in the killboard that the grand loss was for the attackers.

thnks, now we cannot rely on Concord.

We cannot even insure the damn thing.

Eurgh not another one.
CONCORD brings retribution and consequence. CONCORD will not always save you from dying in high sec if people want you dead.
If you can't afford to insure it well that's your problem.

The police in your home town cannot guarantee that if a gang of 20 people go berserk with machine guns on a busy street, they will show up and neutralize them before any civilians are killed.
But the police *can* guarantee you that the 20 people are punished for what they did.
The only way to make it completely safe for civilians is to make it impossible to fire on a non-outlaw/war target in high-sec. And that would be boring wouldn't it?

It has less to do with the firepower of Concord and more to do with the tank of your ship. Concord's role isn't to defend you — that's your job — so the firepower they have is entirely adequate for their purpose.

Rather unlucky that. Still, I'd be surprised if the total loss per character was more than 20-30mil, so it was certainly a worth-while gamble.

Question for everyone, has anyone tried to salvage a frieghter wreck before?? I've never gotten the chance to try to salvage one before but have salvaged dreads and carriers before successfully but recently wasn't able to salvage that a frieghter wreck I came across. It gave me a warning about it containing more m3 of salvage than what could fit into a cargo container thus I couldn't salvage it. What's up with that??

Concord's police response is fine. The only issue I have with the entire situation is Concord paying insurance to ships that they themselves killed.

You can salvage a freighter wreck if the amount of loot in the wreck can fit into a single cargo container; otherwise, you will need to loot the wreck first. The reason for this is that once you successfully salvage a ship, any leftover loot in the cargohold of the shipwreck gets jettisoned into a cargo can.

Concord doesn't pay you, Pend Insurance does. - In essence, any combat related activity involving damage has been 'speed nerfed' to just take 6 times longer with a predetermined outcome coined balance by CCP. |
