A lot of us have alts in high sec and sometimes get bored and do a little can baiting. What two ships would you use when ganking people that take the bait? I like the two ships we use but it's a secret :)

Most canbaiters I used to see would use an armor buffer tanked gank battleship (abaddon, megathron, geddon etc.), with an alt in a dock hugging guardian/dominix. So that they could gank most people, and deaggro and redock whenever they got into a fair fight/get assistance. --- Please resize your signature to the maximum allowed of 400 x 120 pixels with a maximum file size of 24000 bytes. rifter duh!
considering mostly noobs will take the loot, and you can get more kb points for being in a t1 frig!

Edited by: Lord Kazuhiro on 13/10/2009 20:02:30 More than anything, a neut/blaster domi. Since it kills every kind of ship with extreme ease from interceptors to battleships. (And in highsec there is zero worry of the other guy fitting smartbombs and surviving. This is of course assuming the can baiter isn't a newbie himself.

Considering a lot of the people flipping your can will be in a battleship I'm surprised none of you have chosen to bring two gank fit bs's. A rifter and recons etc really won't do much in time before they dock. Plus a lot of these guys have logi alts so max dps is needed. Still waiting for some interesting ship combos.

I have had success in an Arbitrator. Looks new enough to be used asa mining vessel, and with T2 drones, tackle and neuts it'll mince flipping frigates.
On my first ''fishing'' trip I popped a fully T2 fitted Incursus; not bad for five minutes work. I'd stick to starter systms if you're doing it for laughs.

Two CNR's is hardly a secret Maddogzor/Unforsaken. Its also not exactly innovative now is it =/
Also Sandwich/Liiza Valore/General Grendal/Soshan undocking 30 seconds after you engage when can baiting to get on the killmail.... not exactly a surprise..
The Pink Pantie Raiders as a secret kool kids corporation for redundant "The United " corp members to actually feel like they are pvp'ing with some dignity....
I guess when you hit the bottom, you hit the bottom hard... :(

Arbitrator and Falcon work good for me. I've taken out up to a Drake with this. Not enough dps for a BS though.

Yeah, arbitrator worked well fer me. Sat in Frarn top belt a while back with a can named 'Veld' happily mining away with a couple of mining lasers. My char was only 3 or 4 months old at the time but had a T2 armour tank and T2 med/light drones. After 15mins or so an '06 char in a Hawk flipped my can. The two neuts, scram, web and T2 lights ate him alive in short order and I got a nice gistii small shield booster and gistii AB for my trouble :)

Can baiting? There's a proper name for it now, huh...
I rolled out for three weeks of free trial in a basic Vexor. I did a little write up of the experience for kicks and giggles at the end:

Shield gank brutix works well for me...... whatever back up works it dont really matter but falcon is good not expensive ships and people dont expect 800 dps from a brutix.... over 1000 if overheated If at first you dont succeed maybe you just SUCK!!!!! |
