Edited by: Magma Miner on 14/10/2009 00:44:02 Edited by: Magma Miner on 14/10/2009 00:38:43 My corp has found a large gas-cloud field for me to mine, and is beginning to manufacture boosters. They want me to smuggle them in my Ares (Interceptor), however I am pretty inexperienced in smuggling. When I told them that, they told me, "Find it out." So I'm here asking a few questions.
1. What decides the chance of CONCORD catching you at stargates? Can you outrun CONCORD's scanners?
2. Is it worth getting the full set of Snake implants?
3. Would it be better to run drugs in an interceptor, a blockade runner, or a stealth bomber equipped with a Cov Ops cloak? I can do all of them, but I want to use the best.
4. Since you can't see within locked cargo containers, will putting them in cargo containers prevent CONCORD from scanning them?
5. Is it better to fight CONCORD if you're caught/run with a crew?
Also, if it's important in any way, we're manufacturing Blue Pill and Crash with Amber + Golden gases.
Many thanks, fellow outlaws. -Magma Miner Mining Director of Singularity Explorations

What you should do is have a crew of BSs in front of you and have them engage concord before you arrive.

We could tell you but none of us have ever been caught. Customs are that inept that you pretty much only have to worry if your running drugs in a freighter and spend 20 mins getting to a gate.
Istvaan Shogaatsu: As with most such situations the answer is simple: rob them first. |

customs are stupid, just warp to zero the entire time and don't go AFK on a gate/station and your set. I personally wouldn't use a Freighter, or orca to move them, havn't tried a BS for a while.

Clearly you have never seen the "you cannot cloak because it is being jammed by the police in pursuit of you" message.

the guys you have to deal with are not Concord but the various customs NPCs you can fight them but it's not recommended there is a GREAT vid of a corp/alliance moving a freighter full of boosters to jita, they had an escort etc
ares is definitely yoru best bet, forget snakes and fit the ones improving agility if you really want to go down that route but frankly, implants should not be necessary
also, do a test run with only 1 booster to see how it goes \o/

I find the response of customs somewhat random, and quite annoying
I have moved boosters in transport ships, frigs, inties, coverts and shuttles (for small deliveries) and sometimes I get caught, other times I don't. A few days ago I moved boosters 11 jumps in a Helios fitted with inertia stabilisers, warping and instantly jumping, and cloaking as soon as I entered warp and was caught 6 times in 11 jumps moving between Amarr and Ammatar space. Not sure why this happened, but basically I lost all my profits for the batch in that run. The same run on other occasions, in the same ship, and I don't get caught at all
The thing to remember is not to hand over anything. The message pops up, leave it till you get to the gate, hit 'no' then jump. The customs agents are not very good at all, so in anything small you just get the fine and a small sec hit.

Edited by: Papa Boats on 14/10/2009 15:30:38 You really need to join hedonistic imperative to really learn the art of smuggling drugs. I have personally run over 2 bil worth of drugs 30 jumps through high sec and never been caught. Join channel "narcotics" to get a hold of a delivery specialists. As for a couple answers forget cloaking customs can scan you while cloaked so save the cash on a cover ops cloak. Also having it in a can don't work either customs scans in cans. Sucks but they are more l33t than you. If you want to use an orca do not put it in the corp hanger its was an exploit and has probly been patched by now.
In short "Cowboy the **** up" learn from your mistakes and get hooked up with the people who been doing this since the beginning of the game
Edit for illiteracy

Actually just got busted through smuggling. I had freed a few slaves from a mission and was bringing them through a gate to a starbase. Afterward I ditched them in a scan outside the station. So much for releasing slaves. Suddenly I got fined by the local Gallente customs.
Basically the game goes like this: - Only the faction custom agents scan for contraband. CONCORD doesn't unless it is near the gate. - If caught, you get a minor fine, and your security standing can go down, which is the real kicker. I lost 0.9 for damn slaves. - Getting caught is rare at best, and usually just after the server comes up is highest (since you are one of the few people there). But if you have like 5-10 people near a gate, you will have less likely fines heading your way since the customs agents might be scanning someone else.
Hope that helps.

"....and usually just after the server comes up is highest (since you are one of the few people there)...."
Lol - you know I never thought about that When I got caught 6 times in 11 jumps it was the second the servers had come up and there was only me in local for most of the way. Actually explains why I sometimes get caught - server up is my main time for shifting contraband before I go to work......damnit

A few important notes:
1) Cargo Scanners can see through secure cargo containers 2) Cargo Scanners can see through courier shrink wrap 3) CONCORD *WILL* kill you if you tick them off. If you do not die after getting their attention, it is an exploit and you can be banned. 4) CONCORD can not be overpowered, and you can not fight back against them. They will instantly remove all capacitor from your ship, will place an infinite point warp scramble on you, will place an infinite strength ECM on your ship so you can't even target anything. There is nothing you can do. 5) That being said, CONCORD does not involve itself with scanning for contraband. Faction customs ships do this, not CONCORD. ---------- There is always a choice. The choice might not be easy, nor simple, nor the options be what you desire - but, nevertheless, the choice is there to be made. |

Not every gate in a system has customs, you just need a scout and plan your route as you go, takes a whole mess of time if you have to go far.
