What would be the best ship to use for ship probing? This is to find people in deadspaces (ninja looting/salvaging etc).
Right now I'm using an Imicus. However most of the CPU is being used by the Expanded Probe Launcher I (you absolutely need this to load combat scan probes). It's also somewhat slow, but nanofiber and afterburner help the problem a little.

Covert ops and strategic cruisers are what you're looking for.
The recon ships often do it, even though they have no bonus to it simply due to have little or even no use of their highslots otherwise and they're able to use a cov ops cloak. Parrots, commence!

Edited by: Roemy Schneider on 15/10/2009 12:03:31 depends on what you're probing and a bit on your skills. sure the "astrometric" hulls offer a bit of a bonus but either you probe the deadspace or the battleship in it. the latter sure doesn't require any of said bonus and only the toughest 0.0 deadspaces do.
so one can fit expanded probe launcher on lots of ships really. personally i do it on my scimitar (looking distinctly innocent) but i can understand if you're looking for more punch or just more high-slots or w/e. if it's just about ninja salvaging, i could recommend an afterburner vaga to zoom from wreck to wreck while 5 salvagers do a pretty swift job. does ninja looting involve grabbing _everything_ or just the best named stuff?

the cargo upgrades result in a large container and therefore in over 780m¦

still needs 1% cpu imp -.- - putting the gist back into logistics |

I attempt to grab everything. It doesn't matter if I have to do several trips since all I do is stock everything in a nearby station.

I use two ships when I ninja as the frigs with probing bonuses don't have squat for high slots. Once I've probed someone out, I dock and grab my ninja ship. It does over 1300m/s and as long as I'm not getting scrap metal I have no fear of filling the cargo hold.
