So I'm in a very lucrative position to steal about 1.7 billion worth of ships and assets from my corp. But on the other hand, these are a nice bunch of people and they would be financially and morally devastated.
I guess this is a question for corp thieves, but have any of you found it morally difficult or felt guilty doing this to people you enjoy hanging out with?
And is it difficult to find another corp to join afterwards as well? One that you genuinely want to be in.

It's questions like this that will remind me to NEVER trust anyone so much they could steal that much from my corp.

1. if for no other reason than them being "morally devastated", I say go for it. :) 2. Once a douche, always a douche.

1.7 billion? Meh...I say wait until you're in a position to steal a lot more than that, then do it!

Serious answer for a serious question? Yeah why not.. Its like reverse trolling..
I never steal from people I like. That is to say when I join a corp with the express purpose of ripping them off I never get attached to them. If I join a corp with the express purpose of pew pew its totally different and I do get attached to them, so I would never steal from them.
It is also difficult to find a corp again after you steal, especially a competent one that you would want to do something other than take all their shiny stuff. I recommend never corp thieving on your main PvP character and keeping it to throw away alts and characters you aren't too attached to (cos your likely to be selling them later on if they are of any use).
1.7B isn't worth loosing actual friends over (and I mean people that you would would invite over dinner if you had the chance). For the record I've had a corpmate that I like hand me about 50B worth of kit to haul for him, and he got it all back because I would never take from that corp, they are just too much fun to fly with.
Istvaan Shogaatsu: As with most such situations the answer is simple: rob them first. |

If these guys are your friends, and you like to fly with them, then I would say not to do it. In Eve, friends are worth a lot more than cash. On the other hand, if you don't care about them too much, and these guys are the "nice but dumb" type, well... I'm not going to tell you to do it, but you may want to see if you can encourage that amount to grow. You're already in a position to take the assets, why not see if you can get those assets to grow a little before taking off?

Yep this is the camp they fall in. Nice but dumb. Most are somewhat new and naive. Plus they go to such unprecedented lengths to avoid pvp confrontations.

Having been in this corp for almost two months, I believe they've peaked in terms of growth in members and assets. More of a friends first business second corp.

lol, that reminds me of the Metalocalypse episode where Toki and Swisgar don't get along.
On a more helpful note, if you like the people you're in corp with, don't steal from them. It isn't worth it. That, and 1.7b is just change for most corp thieves.

It's difficult to screw over people you actually like a lot. I don't recommend it for such a small amount. Reputation is worth more than 2bil even if you don't particularly like your corpmates. When I started to harbor thoughts of corptheft, I decided I wouldn't do it for less than 100b. I ended up getting about 200. I did feel guilty for a day or so. It gets easier once most people start hating you. And yes, if you steal from a corp you are going to have a hard time getting into any other corps. |

If you can guarentee it won't harm future theft projects with the same char then yeh, rob them blind. If not (as i suspect), go find a bigger take; 1.7bill is nothing.

It really is a simple answer, imo.. What do you want the most? 1.7b isk, or continue to be space friends with those nice ppl? You still keep the thief door open that way.
taking the isk has 1 pro, and potential cons. not taking the isk has potential pros, but no cons.

teach the idiots a life long lession, trust no one, and i bet after this lil venture, they will be a little more weary as to wtf is going on and who has what rights. I managed to take about 5 billion worth of ships and T2 with a few minerals from my last corp.
I took the ships from the "AFK" players that left stuff in the pos no one noticed and to this day still didn't realize wtf happened. My main was a JF pilot for them too, and half the corp and some of the alliance didnt realize i /quit and were still assigning me contracts.
There is a reason people study and came up with the term Darwinism.
