There have been hints that they will be used in the future, but not when or what for precisely.

i was told by isd i na email that the devs plan on using them for a big event for the 2nd anniversary of eve. so we have a long time till they are used but ill take all of them from everyone who wants to give em to me

I have the facts, and I'm not sharing what they are really for, could get me in trouble.. but more than likely the fullerene shards will be post-Kali since it involves implementation of something which does not exist in the game currently. Not everyone will be able to reap the benefits of it, in fact maybe only a few people, or a dozen people will and it will more than likely end up being dominated by alliances, which have the numbers to support this event.
The jovian parts could be items you can bring to your agent for a boost in loyalty points, though I really have no other info on that.

Well i got 7 or so pieces so I will just sit on them for the time being.

I expect perhaps that a cerebral slice may be able to be used in production of some kind of advanced implant. It makes sense.
