No... I already live in a rude city, Boston, MA. We are douchy about our sports and driving. I am just curious about what other people's opinions of douchy cities in the US are. -----------------------------------

Lived a month in San Marcos in San Diego, California back in 1992, and found this town quite charming. (ye, not what you ask for - rude aint it? ) Although, I STILL cant for the life of me understand why anyone would like to empty half a bottle of maple syrup between the pancake layers

Erm.. From personal experience, I'd have to say Los Angeles or San Francisco.
I say San Francisco because as soon as you show a dissenting opinion in that city (that goes against the popular opinion) they all pounce on you.. They are also very snobby if you come from somewhere other than California (ever see that episode of South Park where they have the Smug? I'll link the official commentary: Linkage)

All east coast citys are full of cock bites especially the small burgs you run across taking the coast roads. Actually had a waitress insult my slight southern drawl with the opening comment "I guess you probably want some grits with biscutes and gravy well we don't serve that crap here." when I asked about the breakfast specials. Needless to say I simply got up and left and found a fast food joint at the interstate. Some parts of the west coast can be a bit rude but overall its pretty friendly the farther north you go all the way up to Seattle. Middle of the country is full of happy campers with southerners just dripping with courtesy. Texans can be a bit much with the hereditary penchant for bragging but they are good natured about it.

On another note, I always see people saying that New York is full of rude people yet when I read forums about living and tourism in New York the locals say that it is not as bad as people make out. Yeah the city is bustling with business and tourism so it can be more lonely and somewhat impersonal than other places but I have read numerous times that New Yorkers can be quite pleasant. Don't know for sure as I haven't been there yet so I can only comment on what I have read, can't say how true it is though. ------

New York City is not as rude as you would expect. I lived just outside the limits - grew up there actually.
New Yorkers like the reputation though. Why? Because it drives people away, and they got enough people there as it is. They don't need every knuckle head and his brother moving in, do they?
New York is indifferent. That is, if you want to be all emo and sit on some park bench feeling sorry for yourself, nobody is going to ask you what's wrong or how you feel. It's nobody's business.
What's rude in New York is if you fail to mind your own.
The rudest people I ever met were in South Florida. You see, these are the people from New York and New Jersey who had no friends where they came from because they were such *******s. People who stay in New York tolerate it (taxes, expenses, crowding) because they have all their friends and family there. You can't talk the good people into living anywhere else. But the people who have no friends or family that gives a crap, end up moving to South Florida, where they let their assholyness bloom. This is why North Florida wants to create their own state and let S.FL go deservedly to the dogs or let Cuba have it. Miami is an exception, given that the hispanic culture there is actually full of life and has some better values. I refer mostly to Ft. Lauderdale, and the surrounding suburbs full of transplant buttheads.

sorry New Yorkers, but you don't get the crown.
Philly has (by far) the rudest, douchiest *******s. ****, the Eagles are more afraid of their fans than they are of their rivals.
To be fair, I blame the incredibly high douche levels in NY and Philly on it's close proximity to New Jersey. ---------- Anyway, I'm sorry, but that just happens to be how *I* feel about it. What do you think? |

Having lived in LA, Denver, KC and STL.
LA is actually not that bad. People are just ALWAYS in a hurry. So what is perceived a rudeness really is just someone in a hurry.
Denver was laid back. But then I was in college there.
KC and STL. Du'h middle of the midwest. Not gonna find it much friendlier. Though STL does have that thing about what high school you went to.

I still stick with Philly.
As for New York, later posters have made the distinction between rude and hurried/indifferent. Which is more the case in New York. They move fast and some people will call that rude when they are just upset that people are not paying them any attention.
I will also attest to the bane of South Florida being all the snow birds and the retirees from New York that feel that they are entitled to everything.

Yeah that was my bad. I linked the New field and the jail has probably been closed due to the number of people that need to be housed The point being that it was put their in the first place does not speak well for how they thought of their fans And it was before the jail that they appointed a municipal judge to attend the games to deal with unruly fans.
Here is the excert from the Veterens Staium about their fans.
Fans who attended games in Veterans Stadium for a football game gained a reputation of being among the most vociferous in sports, especially those in the notorious 700 Level, the highest seating level in the stadium prior to the erection of luxury skyboxes behind that seating area. The stadium became famous for the rowdiness of Eagles fans, although it was not the site of the incident in which fans booed Santa Claus during a halftime show. (The Santa Claus incident occurred on December 15, 1968 at Franklin Field, the Eagles' home stadium at the time.[13])
One of the more well-known examples of the fans' behavior was the 1989 follow-up game to what many called the "Bounty Bowl." On Thanksgiving Day, November 23, 1989, the Eagles had beaten the Cowboys at Texas Stadium, 27-0.[14] In that game, former Eagles placekicker Luis Zendejas suffered a concussion during a rough block by linebacker Jessie Small after a kickoff. After the game, Cowboys rookie head coach Jimmy Johnson commented that Eagles coach Buddy Ryan instituted a bounty on Zendejas and Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman. Two weeks later, on December 10, they played the rematch dubbed "Bounty Bowl II" at the Vet which the Eagles won 20-10.[15] The stadium seats were covered with snow in the stands. The volatile mix of beer, the "bounty" and the intense hatred for "America's Team" (who were 1ū15 that season) led to fans throwing snowballs at Dallas players and coaches.[16] Beer sales were banned after that incident for two games. A similar incident in 1995 at Giants Stadium during a nationally telecast San Diego ChargersūNew York Giants game[17] led the NFL to rule that seating areas must be cleared of snow within a certain time period before kickoff.
The Eagles fans' behavior during a Monday Night Football loss[18] to the San Francisco 49ers in 1997 and a 34-0 loss to Dallas a year later[19] was such that the City of Philadelphia assigned a Municipal Court Judge, Seamus McCaffrey, to The Vet on game days to deal with fans removed from the stands.[20] Two years later, fans threw D-Cell batteries at St. Louis Cardinals outfielder J.D. Drew after he spurned the Phillies' offer to play with them, and wound up going back into the draft and picked by the Cardinals.[21]

Really? I lived there for 7 years and most ppl there seemed quite laid back. You must have lived in MT. P which is full of northern turned southern, I have lots of money, get out of my way, A-holes in it.
Having said that, I've lived in every region of the united states, including the north. And I can say without doubt, the rudest, most doucheyes, most full of A-Holes is.... any city in south florida! It's not the born and raised there floridians. It's the **** and vineger, moan about everything, always in a hurry, rich and spoiled transplants. That state is like an A-hole magnet.
