neither do i, but it was intentionally designed to be that way, so deal with it. you have to let go of the idea that the salvage is yours...it's not. yeah, it sucks that you did all the work and someone else can come along and claim the salvage, but that's jut the way it is.
some ideas to increase your changes at getting the salvage before someone else does:
(1) clear a room, then grab your salvage boat and salvage it before going to the next room. this will prevent a ninja salvager from salvaging one room while you fight in the next.
(2) or a quicker way would be to create an alt and salvage as you do the mission.
(3) if you salvage in a BC or BS, leave enough ships in the room to deter salvagers in smaller ships, since they'll get popped. then salvage in your sufficiently tanked BC or BS. once you're done, go back and take out the last few ships to close the mission.
(4) if you're bitter, you can always just blow up the cans so the ninja salvager can't have them.
(5) accept the loss but realize that you can do another mission, making more money off of bounties and loot, during the time you would have otherwise salvaged. you lost the salvage but gained the time to do more missions.

I mish in a BS and basically tank salvage while I fight and get everything I want before moving on.
Sure the fights last longer, but I don't have problems with NS's.

(6) Don't run missions in something that's huge, easy to scan down, and which just screams "mission runner". What do you think the ninjas will go for? The Marauder that yields a 100% hit almost before they've even managed to get all the probes out, or the unidentified 45% hit that they have to work to get a good hit on? ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

You forgot to add using your scanner to watch for combat scanner probes and their variations. Easiest way to avoid ninja salvagers.
Don't put modules or rigs on your ship that will increase your signature radius, it will make you easier to find.
Kill any rats that may be target painting you, making your signature radius bigger, making you easier to find.
And finally, look to do missions in less busy systems. =========================

If they're looting the cans/wrecks while they salvage, you can shoot them because they are taking loot from the wreck/can (can that appears once someone salvages a wreck and fails to loot the wreck prior to finishing salvaging) that you own, which flags them to you.

For some odd reason I have the sudden urge to kill a kitten.
Granted it'd be a good deed to rodents, lizards, birds, and basically everything smaller then a cat that moves (or did move at one time).

Ninja Salvagers are very easy to deal with. If they show up. blow up the wrecks you make. They get no profit. The will remember you. They will likely leave you alone if they scan you out because they know you will esplode your wrecks. ------------------------------------------------

we'll either go through until you pop every last wreck, or we'll bring high-alpha ships to come in and take bounties.
Not a theory. I explode my wrecks and now when they warp in and see who's mission their in, they warp back out. Only had one guy not leave and I exploded every wreck before he could get to them. I guess he thought he was actually hurting me.
Of course, what the NS didn't know is that I explode my wrecks anyway, with or without them there. So it's no loss of isk to me either way. But it sure is fun to watch them scramble trying to get to the wrecks before I explode them.
Oh, and before you say it.. Multiple room missions have each rooms wrecks destroyed before moving into the next ones rats. I've enjoyed seeing a few of YOUR brethren's wrecks as well because they thought they would just go in to the next room ahead of me .
"oh no all that waste". I make my isk from other methods and I am only grinding standing. I just like laughing at people like Suddenly Fail err Ninjas getting ass sore because someone won't let them NS a mission. The Tears are sometimes quite epic!
Oh yes, please do come into my missions with your high alpha ships. You will make it that much faster for me to complete the mission objective. Thanks for the help. ------------------------------------------------

I guess I don't really understand why ninja salvagers are a problem, supposing they get in...all they do is salvage. Worst case scenario: you don't salvage the mission they intruded on. I mean, seriously, it's not that much ISK (usually) and it's just...not something to get worked up about. And they don't even come in even close to every mission. Besides, there's LOADS of great mission agents that aren't in a heavily-populated hub.

I love that CCP makes it so new players can jump right in **** people off and make huge amounts of isk doing it.
I have a question for the ninjas... how much isk/hour can you make ninjaing?

eh? if you consider not having to deal with the last 25% structure of a rat "help" then your call

Yes. We're just inconsolable.

In which case they're set back a few hundred thousand ISK.
For someone who apparently doesn't care you get really butthurt about it.

Depends on how fast you scan, how efficient you are, what type of rat wrecks you go after, whether you loot or not, lady luck, etc

Your apparently mistaking my laughing at you for being butt hurt. That isn't surprising to me that you made that obvious mistake. I've found that a majority of those who think it is a grand time to 'grief' others to be somewhat lacking in cognitive ability. Occasionally you get a smart one, but then you find they were touched by priests in naughty places when they were little and that usually explains their antisocial behavioral antics.
Please do go on thinking I am the one with the sore butt though. I am sure your priest will be happy that you sublimate your emotional pain that way. ------------------------------------------------

The other thing to bear in mind is that if someone loots from a can when they're ninja-salvaging your wrecks is that they probably WANT you to shoot at them. Next thing you know, your CNR is fair game, and you've already got a lot of NPC targets on you when the NinjaSalvager's buddies warp in with their CNR-killers.

If they don't, they are suffering from memory related issues. I remember who has come into my missions. I will usually wave at them in system if they show up and chat with them. If they don't remember you after once or twice, then they need better implants. ------------------------------------------------

Tank a ship and leave it AFK in a gas cloud you know it can tank over night. Come back before downtime and see how many ninja salvagers have fallen prey to the cloud.
