EVE is less than 1.5 months to the hoped for release of Dominion. Radical changes lie ahead for sov, system mechanics, and resource mechanics. I asked myself how much about this do I really know?
So, lets see what collective wisdom comes up with.
OP Topic: What do you know about the sov and resource mechanic changes in dominion? (Sisi changes or devspeak at fanfest plz)

We? Or You? Because I'm pretty sure some of us know tons more than others. But knowledge doesn't come free.

Regardless of what this guy ^^^ says.. we still know sweet caress softly all beyond the very basics. 3 days(?) ago, they seeded FLAGS (sov claimer), STOPS (sov disruptors) and er the hub thingos (upgrade platforms). The attributes on the 3 structures weren't final according to a dev, and no upgrades to be seen either, unless you went into the DB (still only 1)
Until such time that CCP are willing to put their nuts on the line and say "this is what we intend..its live on sisi.. now we want feedback" everything else is pure speculative.
It's what.. 38 days until we go live. Let's say they give a fortnight for corps to sell towers, raise funds, plant flags, whatever, so that existing supercapital build jobs (just one example) aren't royally screwed.. does that leave a lot of time for player feedback?
Lets go with no, shall we?
So, time for some speculation (its still more then ccp has given us):
1. CCP turn a blind eye to the feedback of everyone and come Dec 1, every 0.0 corp will be left struggling to get prepared for something they learn about 5 days beforehand. The GM's will get to know 2 days after it goes live of course.
2. Dec 1 will be the day the new sov structures go live, but sov 1.0 won't disappear for a couple of weeks afterwards. We meant this the whole time...I swear
3. Oh its been available on sisi for ages. You should have been able to extrapolate our meaning based on your hours of testing upon which we provided no insight!.
Actually what the hell am I on about. They nerfed carrier logistics whilst introducing a replacement.. at the same time. Oh woops, it takes a month to replace the old mechanics. MY FAULT, SORRY!
In the end, those of us who live in 0.0 make up about the same percentage for CCP's income. I'm sure some dev's actually care about what happens, but in the end, it still seems to be about the carebears

We do know that it's not worth anyone's time "testing" faction and pirate ship changes. They've already made their decisions and no amount of criticism will matter.

We have been told in different places there will be a changeover. Likely the old and new mechanics will co-exist in some fashion (FLAGS can be anchored, but POS's still hold sov too?) From the lack of info from them the changeover will be After release.
Otherwise, we know about Infrastructure hubs, FLAGS, disruptor's & Upgrades. We know claiming takes 24 hours, and taking sov is going to be much harder than now (12 hour vigil) at every entry gate. Which admittedly is timezone proof, for the defender. (tell you what though, its not kid holiday proof, Summer holidays are going to be a pita for those of us who work and get ganked by children on break lol)
We only have conjecture as to what the upgrades will be in the end. We know they are not going to nerf existing true sec ores/belts/rats, but the new system will build on top of it. Which limits the target of the upgrades (more grav sites instead of better belts eg). Which if you think about it is an excellent way of making more places for more people in a similar way missions achieve this in high sec. We do know they will incorporate classics like Cyno jammers into new upgrades not POS modules.
We have new uber shiny planets. (Not sov i know, but couume ownnn! )

Both will exist. You will need to buy the upgrade in order to online the POS module.

Edited by: Caldor Mansi on 21/10/2009 17:30:45 Here's the little what I know about Dominion:
1) It is the expansion with least testing time spent on major features since...don't remember :) 2) It is the least thought-out across all introduced features and changes.
In both cases it beats 2 last expansions. Do we see a trend here? :)

*points* That is good info. It also makes good sense. The "Upgrade" simply allows the module but the mechanic stays as was.

refer to ccps previous rollout, it works but itso nly being rolled out from the closed beta server to the open server about 2 weeks before dominions goes in - ccp has had its 600 global staff testing it in mutliplicity server for quite some time. So they have a good idea how it works. SISI final test and then go live

If your infrastructure hub is destroyed or unanchored, all "purchased" upgrades are destroyed, as per a blue post.

Edited by: Kell Braugh on 23/10/2009 04:23:37 Well, they spent a good 3+ weeks publicly testing Titans and Motherships.
So if that ratio of testing vs. in game impact holds true, we should see sov changes on Sisi for testing ohh--- about 2 months ago
- In essence, any combat related activity involving damage has been 'speed nerfed' to just take 6 times longer with a predetermined outcome coined balance by CCP. |

This nonsense spread like bush fire.. Can't say where exactly, but it was somewhere in dev's post in forums, also in fanfest panel. "baseline" is current situation. Difference between truesec remains.

ah so ccp arent going to make to many changes and went the weak option of retaining true sec status so the big alliances will retreat to their rich areas like fountain and abandon less profitable areas which will be filled with smaller renters and the NAP fest remains. Ok ccp got the idea now pulling back on ballsy changes to go with run of the mill zzzzzzz

We know that the exploit whereby people were able to use a player owned station to do things like store stuff, like bookmarks for instance has been fixed. So that's something to look forward to.
And I think we know that the proposed projectile turret rebalancing isn't going to get a single pilot whose already respecced to Amarr back in a Minmatar battleship.

These whinings always make me laugh. Lets make skillpoints, hangars and wallets reset while we are there, huh ?
Your dreamed-of true sec reset will make NAP's even more widespread. Why fight at all then ?
