I've been flying a Condor around fitted with an Inertia Stablizer II, which (I thought) could get me aligned and to warp quicker than I could be locked (after a gate jump). However I found today that I was wrong!! What ship/skills/fitments do I need to avoid this happening (or minimizing the risk)?
Thanks.

Instant locking is possible. Your best bet is to minimize your signature, and have high agility to accelerate to warp quickly.
Skills: Spaceship Command, Evasive Maneuvering. Modules: Nanofiber Internal Structure II
Note that Inertia Stablizer II increases your signature.

Can any Australian players tell me if they've been killed when trying to get through lowsec gatecamps in a covops? I'm wondering if the 250ms latency is going to get me killed one day, or if warping and instantly activating the cloak is actually safe for me to be doing :P

There are only a few problems with this. Normally, yes, you can turn, cloak, and warp with no problems.
The only times when they could catch you is when they have interceptor pilots ready to hurdle themselves at you and bump you out of cloak, but you see this (along with the dreaded bubble) in nullsec more than in lowsec, where bubbles won't work.

I don't think I have ever seen anyone lock a condor going into warp.
hell weren't there some pirate whines about not even being able to lock an i-stabbed cruiser

If you are set up right (lots of sensor boosters and someone remote sensor boosting you) you can manage a nearly insta-lock in a BC from what I hear (haven't tried myself however).
That being said, in all my scooting about lowsec I have yet to lose anything frig size to anything but a smartbombing blob on a gate. <-------------------------------------------------> "Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former." -Albert Einstein |

Either that or the covops pilot just wasn't paying attention and didn't activate covops cloak.

right but there is always that moment of lag where who knows what will happen

right I solo killed a cov ops in a bs once, he was afk outside a station (cloak dropped, yay!)
also guessing there was a good chance a bubble was involved. ah well cba to actually make a bc log in so can't see the mails.

No I always active the cloak, even in hi-sec.

I can't say for sure, but I think that the latency induced lag does have an effect for Aussie/Oceania players. I think I'm visible for too long and the interceptors do get a good idea of where I am. However, I have never been locked in this way yet in low-sec or in 0.0. I've been flying a CovOps through bubble camps for a couple of years now.
Running live-fire training drills on Sisi with corp mates using a large bubble and some fast locking interceptors, I actually did better than some of the North Americans and Euros (a couple of them got caught and I didn't). This was about 18 months ago though, so I can't say what the intervening system changes have affected.
