Ensure it's pointing at the correct server; these current patches are release candidates, and as such point to Tranquility. Be sure to have a shortcut to the eve.exe file with '/server:87.237.38.50' appended to it, like so: pic
attempted this on windows vista and got the following "the name 'c:\Programfiles\ccp\evesingularity\eve.exe /server:87.237.38.50' specified in the target box is not valid. make sure the path and filename are correct" Suggestions, have some testing that needs to be done on there.

Edited by: JessiJames on 28/11/2009 12:42:33 WHY is it ALWAYS like this ?
1. Use autopatch - Fails for checksum 2. Download maually - Fails for invalid whatever 3. Repeat step 2 about five times and eventually it will work.

ps: using GetRight for manual dl

Because it should be: "c:\Program Files\ccp\evesingularity\eve.exe" /server:87.237.38.50
Note the position of the two " marks! They are necessary if the path contains a space anywhere!

The repair tool is atm not always working on SISI due to the release builds which are getting tested atm.
This should be fixed when SISI is in normal production mode again and as always that will be SOON(TM). __________________________ CCP Sputnik CCP Core Engineering Software Engineer

Can't get latest staging build on singularity to work.
Tryed it for 4-5 times already - copy TQ install, apply TQ>>SI patch. Even run repair.exe for the patched test install a few times.
Still, when I launch the test install it shows 118495 build and incompatible (release) error, instead of 118927.
Is there any way to make 118927 work? Because obviously there're quite a few ppl, who don't have a problem with that, even a couple of me friends were doing exact same thing I did and had no problems.

This can be used to either fix a broken patched instalation or actually get it installed.
Exit your TQ client, make a full copy of your EVE client folder.
Change the game path according to yours.
C:\Games\Eve
to
C:\Games\Eve-SiSi
You can find the latest build version here, Use the build version found on that page by hovering your mouse over the "Download TQ to Singularity Patch" link.
Find the folowing two lines in the file shown below and replace with the correct required build number.
build= sync=
Edit: C:\Games\EVE-SiSi\Common.ini to
[main] version=6.20 build=118927 codename=EVE-EVE-STAGING region=ccp cryptoPack=CryptoAPI sync=118927 branch=//depot/games/EVE-STAGING/eve appname=EVE useScriptIndexFiles=1
In that folder run the repair.exe file, it will check against the server and download the appropriate files, when its done, run the client, it may complain about some files, remove them (make backups just in case), launch the SiSi client with a shortcut edited like this
C:\Games\EVE-SiSi\eve.exe /server:87.237.38.50
This should get you up and running on SiSi.

To CCP, this might be a little off-tangent but still relevant.
If you've been reading some forum responses, there seems to be quite a number of users who manages to confuse their current client version and the latest client version available. The problem here is that, from a user perspective, the latest client version available information isn't made known in a convenient and reliable way.
Having the user refer to the Eve website or any 3rd party website just to get this simple but vital piece of information leads to people confusing what is what. Oftentimes, the website info can be inaccurate. You want to eliminate this as a problem.
I would start by suggesting displaying the client version number in a location near the login for easier reference. It's current location in the top left, coupled with the small fonts makes reading it a pain. The next bit that I would also suggest is adding an extra "Latest Version" line for easier comparison. Examples :
Your Client Version : 6.2.118927 (MATCH) Latest Version : 6.2.118927
Your Client Version : 6.2.117038 (OUTDATED) Latest Version : 6.2.118927
Having the above will cut through a lot of unecessary pain and grief as the users will have the proper information at their fingertips.

Having the right information without having to do so much digging would indeed be nice if it came from the source itself, properly explained step by step as not every players are IT specialists. Click below for my manifesto.

Yeah but it was deployed around the time when he posted, so I'm not sure if its actually a problem of the repair tool itself or as you suspect just a PICNIC issue. __________________________ CCP Sputnik CCP Core Engineering Software Engineer

As mentioned earlier, we cant guaranty that the repair tools works on SISI atm, this is related to its deployment schedule and the testing of release builds.
This should be resolved when SISI is back on the normal schedule. __________________________ CCP Sputnik CCP Core Engineering Software Engineer
