Just wondering whether t2 large lasers would be better than t2 large projectiles. The new buff seems to help out large projectiles a lot but the minmatar line seems to suck besides the phoon which looks really good after the patch. So I was thinking go Abaddon:
[Abaddon, PVP] Damage Control II Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II 1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I Heat Sink II Heat Sink II Heat Sink II
Quad LiF Fueled I Booster Rockets Faint Warp Disruptor I X5 Prototype I Engine Enervator Heavy Electrochemical Capacitor Booster I, Cap Booster 800

Large Trimark Armor Pump I Large Trimark Armor Pump I Large Trimark Armor Pump I
Hammerhead II x5
or go phoon like this except 5 torps:
[Typhoon, PVP] 1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II 1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I 1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I Damage Control II
Quad LiF Fueled I Booster Rockets Medium Electrochemical Capacitor Booster I, Cap Booster 800 X5 Prototype I Engine Enervator Faint Warp Disruptor I

Large Trimark Armor Pump I Large Trimark Armor Pump I Large Trimark Armor Pump I
Ogre II x5
Questions: 1) Is geddon or abaddon worth it for pvp? The lack of web or mwd or cap booster seems to be bad and that it can really only kill large ships and it would die to a bunch of small ones. Also both ships seem like they would get majorly screwed over by any neuts.
2) Any minmatar ship besides the phoon worth using? Tempest seems meh and mael just uses 2 many mids and the dps is still meh. Just cant see the point of going min bs 5 Imply or Implode?

Yea thats what I was figuring with the projectile buff being not set in stone. Imply or Implode?

Well, first of all drop one of those heatsinks for a second plate or a LAR. The reason is that third HS doesn't add nearly as much as a bit more tank would. This is of course assuming you aren't fighting 20 vs 20 or more where everyone dies in 1 shot. Also, I'd drop the speed mod, the abaddon isn't going anywhere fast even with it, might as well toss a TC or something more useful there instead.
Anyways, as said it's still in the air. The abaddon isn't a fancy ship but it does what it does very well. It has a better tank and can apply it's damage instantly. Of the two setups, the abaddon certainly does more damage. That said it is vulnerable to neuting and throwing 3 heavy neuts on any ship will ruin someone's day. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. The question is do you want gank and tank or do you want speed and neuts? The answer to that answers your question. -----------------------------------------------------

Pretty much anything sub-BS in the Minmatar line is good to use, it's the BS and above line that seems to be the "worst". Typhoon being the exception to the rule, as it's a good ship, but skill intensive to use effectively (for now, will change after patch... possibly).
Answers: 1- sorry, never flown Amarr, so no input there 2- see above. While the Tempest and Maelstrom are ok ships, they really don't get used too much in PvP
If all you want to fly is the 'phoon, don't even bother training up projectiles, just go the missile route (assuming the projected changes remain).

Thanks all for the answers, this would be in a small gang most likely. I already fly a torp raven which I really enjoy.
@king rothgar: Well I am kind of worried about not having a mwd to dictate any range. I do enjoy speed by I fly shield gank harbingers and hurricanes a lot but Large projectiles just seem pointless with using them only on the phoon which really does not even need them.
Otherwise think I may go with Liang's advice. If projectiles seem really nice after the patch then I will go those, otherwise I will go lasers. Abaddon looks really awesome which is definitely a + Imply or Implode?

Train for lasers first as they are not getting nerfed anytime soon so once you have all your supports up to snuff for t2 large lasers all you will need to do to go projectile are the actual racial skills themselves which is about 2 months total training to get to t2 large. Hell I'm finally training up gunnery on this particular character to go with the all minnie level 5 racial and t2 skills I have. First time I personally will be a damage dealing combat character past the uber prober and tackler skillset. So <3 CCP for finally buffing projectiles.

Here's an amusing thought for your time: if projectiles are looking really nice after the patch, it's going to be due LARGELY to the TC/TE changes. Just to make it explicit, nano shield whoring is going to become even more fotm than it is now.
Which is to say that lasers may not be a bad choice even if projectiles get uber boosted. I'll have Amarr BS5 + Large T2 Laser Specs 4 by the time this change goes live. I don't regret it.

Eh, more than just shield cane/harb. The new tracking enhancers are gonna be pretty overpowered (30% falloff, 10% optimal/tracking). It will be worthwhile to shield tank a lot more stuff with bonuses that big (such as Hyperions, for example).

The phoon only really starts to shine once you have all the requisate skills, and considering how rarely they are used, Amarr are still going to provide a reliable product with good results.
And of you are 0.0 bound, its still going to be Tempest, Apoc, Mega, Rokh. . .

I don't blame you on wanting some sort of speed mod, being totally immobile and committed to every fight to the bitter end takes some getting used to. The abaddon is one of the most powerful sub-capital ships in the game but you have to forget any hopes of retreat if things go badly. As for BC's, the nano-shield cane is a very nice ship. I don't care for the same setup on a harb but even my plated harbs go 750m/s or more and that's enough to maneuver some.
The patch will allow nano-projectile boats to fight at greater range and with a bit more damage. But I don't think it will be game changing. It's more likely to mean that my nano-cane will lose it's 3rd gryo in favor of a TE. The only true change to damage is faction ammo is getting balanced out. Currently RF ammo gets less of a damage increase over regular compared to everyone else. This is being fixed so we will see a small but important raw damage increase for all projectiles using faction ammo.
Edit: Nano-shield whoring is shield tanking anything you have, sticking a mwd and point on it and then filling the lows with damage mods. This is basically applying the nano-cane setup to everything in game. So the low slots will look like 3 damage mods, DCII, 2 nano's for example. The TE changes will make setups like that even more popular as they will add a falloff and optimal bonus. The revised setups may look something like DCII, 2 damage mods, 2 TE's, 1 nano. The shield tanked brutix, myrmidon, harb are good examples of this. In a 1v1 fight with a tanked BC, they will pretty much always lose but they are really great at picking 2-3 vs 1 fights and running from everything else. -----------------------------------------------------

Yeah, Gallente will turn into the shield tanking nano-laser race lul Their ships have the best slot layouts (IMO) but the worst fking modules to put there. So much so that they actually work with the 'wrong' modules

Lasers will likely still provide the most "flexible" dps... (i.e. hitting across a variety of ranges), but to be honest, my amarr character has been training min stuff as fast... not least because increased alpha strikes are gonna make it more likely that I get the KM in a gang... or that I cross the shield recharge point in smaller work. Honestly though, I had started it even before all the new buffs came into sight in the distance. With so many meh pvpers jumping on the amarr bandwagon, it's just sooooo easy to kill them in minmatarr stuff. People saw "AMARR FOTM" and started training without much comprehension of the associated weaknesses of amarr that are available to exploit.

Thank you for the information concerning that. I really like the abaddon even if it has to be committed to every fight. Looks great, has great buffer and putting the tracking comp in the extra mid seems even better with Dominion changes coming up. Sounds good though concerning ammo, going to be flying nano cane much more then.
concerning nano shield whoring, I just dont like armor buffer. It doesnt recharge and you need a station nearby to dock, put on a rep and repair yourself. I could see it in a gang where you have remote reps but when I go pvpin, its usually not in RR gangs. I like the setup for the 1600mm harb or the 1600mm cane, its just once again the lack of recharge that steers me away from armor buffer.

That pro of lasers I definitely like, they just have the cons of being cap dependent in this comparison and they only have em/therm dmg. The second seems to not be a big deal since all I use with minmatar ships is RF emp and barrage really. I have never found an occasion so far where I used something else. Imply or Implode?

abaddon/geddon for any gangwork and stationgames (mael is good at stations too)
sure a tempest/phoon will do beter solo vs small targets but 99% of time your enemy will have you jammed so you are dead anyway :P
for sniping tempest might become good agen if its gets more alpha.. atm its same as a abaddon but abaddon does like 50% more dps :P

RF EMP is a good catch-all ammo, but you should really have a go at carrying RF Phased Plasma and some RF Fusion. Use the PP against shield tankers and Fusion against the armour tankers and you will notice a difference, I promise. For the time it takes to change ammo types (you do have intel on your targets, right?) it is worth the management overhead. And, of course, go with the Barrage for maintaining distance.
