Well I have been a busy body working on other things and taking a break from eve designs for a while.
That is until I get a nice email about how ccp is stealing my designs?
Curious I investigated and bottom line I am more dissapointed in the person who informed me of the supposive design theft and even recommended I'd sue.
However I understand enough legallities that even if they did steal the design there isnt anything I can do about it, they're trademarked so anything looking similar to thier designs with intentions of matching thier designs its technically thiers already.
But thats not the point entirely the point is all 4 new fighter bombers do not come close to my designs as my designs are subpar. However to help shut people up I am going to make charts and what I think of it.
First up is NFX Delphi Vs CCP Cyclops
As you can see even with the gun weapon uninstalled it will take alot of changes to acheive similar looks mostly the engine block and forward electronics area. None the less the shape and silloute are the similar. because of that profile Ill be changing my deisgn so NFX response to this is the Delphi Mk2 aptly renamed to the Hydra
Next update will be the Locust vs mantis which is the closest out of all 4.
I wont bother with the Amarr Fighter Bomber because of the ship pointed similar is entirely different class and massive size difference.
Nor will I bother with the Minmatar Fighter bomber becuase ccp beat me to the punch on publishing the design, the closest looking minmatar ship I have is a tier 3 replacement destyorer sitting in my notebook still. Pre-order your Sisters of ≡v≡ Exploration ship today, Updated 11OCT09

I doubt they need that many concept artists tbh. I'd just like the ones working on caldari to go symmetrical already. The 'Fendahlian Collective' strikes again |

It seems like they are all for WoD and Incarna at this point in time.

Glad you settled that conflict before the forum gives birth to another threadnaught. People can get back to normal now and thats a good thing. In a few months we'll all be able to laugh about it.
Sorry for my sarcasm but I can't help and think you're displaying substantial narcissism here. --

That or sarcasm isn't what it used to be. We'll probably never know for sure... --

TBH it ****es me off when people try to give me more credit than I really deserve, even more if people have to strecth something of mine to prove thier point about it. What be basically said after the first two models hit sisi was that they basically unstinstalled guns and put missile launchers in its place. Which after looking at all 4 now doesnt seem to be the case at all. The closest of the 4 however was indeed the manits but there are more than enough differences to id the two ships seperately.
Reason why im taking a break from eve designs though is because I sorta ran out of ships to come up with game design wise. Other than Salvage Thukker ships and Mordus Hackerships and minelayer frigates Im just about out of ideas until ccp introduces more mechanics to allow for more play. Only other thing I can think of doing is fleshing out the pirate factions to the point they can rival the empire faction in terms of number of tech 1 hulls. Nova and I share something that a lot of people don't have much of - modesty. Even if it seems forced, we know that we're not as good as we could be or need to be to fill the absolute requirements of companies we would like to work for, and that there are many individuals that are applying as we speak that are far more suited for the job.
As such, we tend to not want to waste the time of the people that would have to filter through portfolios to try and find the best candidates until we feel we would be worth their time.
Btw Nova, I picked up the Locust again the other day. Kinda got overrun by real life crap and learning some new things I wanted to try out, but I think I'll be able to get a fair bit more done to it now.
If I get around to it I'll go post some updates on Deviantart, but until I do, you can periodically check for updates on my photobucket profile and send me a mail (I'll pm you my email address on deviantart) with changes if there's anything you don't like or want added.
Once we're both satisfied that I'm done with the Locust I'll have a go at your other corvettes' designs, if other things don't take priority.
*edit* I'll send that PM once I find the damned function... ---

Pro-tip: When it comes to employment, modesty gets you nowhere. There's plenty of people out there competing for the same jobs with far less skills that are more likely to get the jobs because they're selling their skills (real or imaginary) to employers, while you're not.

A small class of ship smaller than a corvette in classic navy terms, smaller ships would be a clipper and scooner and sloops (might be wrong there) which all dont sound like proper ship classes to be using for war, since eve's frigates are 747 sized this would put the corvettes more along the lines of Spooky AC-130s, Orion P3s and Hawkeyes E2s, where as a regular fighter bombrs rival a F-18 Superhornet F22 Raptor to the F37 Terminator (NATO desig, not sure what the russians call it) Sized fighters and the regular fighters more along the lines of the p38 mustangs or a6 for something albit more mordern.
The fan based design Corvettes in Eve share a similar role to the mentioned similar sized craft, Electronics and Firesupport the original corvette idea thread stated that the corvettes would be pod pilotable ships that you will want to assign fighters to as they synergize each other making the assigned fighters more powerful (at least to either rival the carriers own bonus or to surpass) and the corvette itself gets a boost to rival them. The bonuses would be based on what fighters where assigned, in our current example the fighters would make the corvette a poweful antibattleship weapon, where as if you assign it fighter bombers it becomes the bane of capitol ships. Without fighters assign they're comparable to newbie frigates in terms of firepower and defenses and can get blown out of the sky easily making it an expensive tech 1 clay pigeon.
I originally designed these ships near the beginning of the year well before Dominion was ever mentioned and when dominion rolled around we get a new fighter type that released with cyclops and then the mantis, it was then I started getting messages and emails from various eve pilots that these two new fighters look like the ships I designed. I went to the test server and I sorta got ****ed off becuase my ships don't even look alike nor are they even the same in terms of quality and well designed starships. However after the next two fighter bombers released I was hoping the emails would stop but people kept streching it, for example the malleus looks similar to the Amarr Testament Juggernaught Tier 2 Dread without the weapon pylons installed, and the Tryfing looks similar to an old tier 3 destroyer design that I myself cannot find on the internet anymore. So to that end I drew these charts up to show the differences in profile, obvious functional parts and will have to in the end redo my own designs to avoid getting into any unwanted trouble.
Anyways about asyemtry Im looking to probably tweak it after getting inspired by this plane here that actually once existed Voss BV 141 So the paint and final finish stage of my work has been set back at least while I work down the details.

And do those selling their imaginary skills ultimately bring the end consumer a quality product?
Thought not.
Don't get me wrong, although I feel Novafox could do with taking a course or two to get his works to look more professional, I still think that as far as creativity goes he has the right mindset. For myself, I don't see myself being able to handle a professional 3D modeling environment with my current capabilities, and would only be a liability to a company like CCP, not an asset.
Simply by putting in an application, I cost them manpower in sifting through profiles; I'd rather not be part of a problem, and only apply when I personally feel I could provide them with something they actually want (or even need) - that way I don't waste their time.
So maybe modesty won't get me very far in the 'real world', but I prefer caring for the well-being of the companies I aspire to work for rather than costing them money. ---
