I am trying to find out if CCP's policy of allowing the sale of GTCs for isk has had any effect, positive or negative, on the overall amount of RMT going on in the game, when including the sale of GTC's as part of the total amount of RMT.
Does anyone know of any official numbers on that?

What you really should be asking yourself is:
"What would be the effect if GTC's and plexes wasn't available for sale."
And asking for official numbers on that is futile. No official data is available and no official data would be accurate because it depends on a case to case basis. Who want's to buy isk of isk sellers rather than through the legal means. No number of GTC and plex will change that because isk sellers sell isk for less $$$ than plexes and GTC's cost at a better rate.

Well... yeah that is what i am trying to figure out.

Not sure what you mean by this... i am confident that CCP has the ability to know how much RMT was happening (per capita?) before the introduction of GTCs, and then after. whether or not they *want* to release that info is another question.

Since people can buy isk with RL money leagally, the prices of ingame items will of course rise a bit. :/

Let's see:
- GTC were already here when I stated in early 2006
- at the same time max server population at peak hours and days was less than 20K
- not average server population is around 50K
So the data CCP has are at least 5 years old and for a game with an audience vastly different. I would say that they are meaningless.

I don't understand the need to buy ISK, whether GTC or RMT.
It's far too easy to make the iskies for any need to buy them.
Now, when a third party figures out how to sell SP...
