Looking at the Rorqual and the Orca, it seems the Rorqual get's 10% more on the command links than the Orca, but do anyone know how much this converts to in actual numbers (let's say that both skillsets needed are maxed) ? |

With the mindlink in use:
Non-boosting ship = About 40% bonus.
BC/CS = About 48% bonus.
Orca = About 53% bonus
Rorqual = About 60% bonus.
Without the mindlink take about 10 away from each of those numbers.

For a maxed Rorqel pilot (Mindlink, Mining Director 5, Warfare Link Specialist 5, Capital Industrial 5) they will give a yield per time bonus of 60%
A maxed Orca pilot (As above but with Industrial Command Ships 5) will give a 55.14% bonus to yield per time.
The main difference is the Rorqel has to be in deployed mode to get the Ganglink bonus

So it seems that if you're already able to fly the orca, it's not really worth it to skill for the rorqual taking time, cost and benefit into account (and looking at it only from a boosting perspective and not all the other things the rorq can do). |

The difference between a BC and an Orca is about the same. The difference between an orca and a rorqual is about the same. If you can't motivate moving from an orca to a rorqual by the bonus alone, I would have a hard time seeing how you can motivate the BC -> Orca upgrade.
That said, the reason most will use an orca rather than a rorqual is the highsec limit.

You are right NoNah. From a boosting perspective it's not really worth going from the BC. I have the orca for the extra properties that are useful when mining, and I have a Rorqual as well. It's however 2 different chars that can fly these, one is a miner and one is a booster. The miner can fly the rorq for the compression use, and so my whole dilemma was if I should spend the time/isk on getting my booster in the rorq, knowing that all he could do with it would be to boost. |
